October Events Calendar

written by tacogirl 03/10/2017
Belize Calendar

My Belize calendar at this time of year is always fuller than my Canadian one was. Although we are still in slow season, October is shaping up to be a pretty busy month so far. Aside from all my favorite Halloween parties, there are lots of interesting events to enjoy. This year I am actually a bit behind on my costume planning considering I usually need about 3 for this island. Thankfully my friend Aimee is back in Texas for two weeks and willing to bring back a costume for me from Yandy my favorite online costume shop.

October 3rd and 4th – Intermagia Magic Show – Tuesday 5:30 & 7:30 PM and Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
This Guatemalan Company aims to promote art and magic by bringing a high-quality show to San Pedro. Click through to the event page to see list of ticket sellers. This event is an Ambergris Caye Rotary Club fundraiser and based on attending last year, I would say it is definitely worth going to if you like magic and want to support a great organization. Click through on Making the Impossible Possible to see 2 funny and mystifying magic mashup videos and pics from last year’s magnificent Intermagia show.

October 7th and 8th – TIDE (Toledo Institute for Development and Environment) Fish Festival in Punta Gorda Town. This year TIDE celebrates 20 years of community participation in conservation.

October 7th and 8th – Belikin Spectacular Blue Water Tournament. Celebrating 30 years in tourism. Catch the adventure. South Water Caye. Click here to see the poster on the Blue Marlin Resort FB page. For more information contact Andrew Roe; 615-3172 or Mike Meighan 610-5556.

October 12th – Pan American Day (Columbus Day) – Bank and Public Holiday.

October 14th – High Tea: Tea Party Fundraiser – Marbucks Coffee House. Break out your fancy hats, heels and tea dresses and take part in this tropical English tradition. Benefiting Raise Me Up with proceeds from this event funding projects for the community, including Hope Haven Children’s Shelter, Colleen’s Kitchen at San Pedro Food Bank, San Pedro Kids Club, Adopt-A-Bear, and the Literacy Program. See their Facebook page for more info.

October 20th – BTB’s Tourism Industry Conference – The Ramada Belize City Princess – Click through to Belize Tourism Board’s Facebook page.

October 27th – Halloween Bash at Crazy Canucks Beach Bar. The perfect party for those who want to have fun but not stay out too late. This popular beach bar promises you will have a spooktacular time and still have be in bed at a reasonable hour. Party will feature DJ all night, costume contest with prizes, drink specials and free shots throughout the night.

October 28th – Holiday Hotel Halloween party. This is hands down the best Halloween party I have ever been to (many times). The prizes are great and everyone’s costumes incredible especially the last 2 years with the same group costumers hitting a home run for that prize category between Jurassic Park in 2015 and Star Wars for 2016. Take your vitamins for this one as it the party goes well into the witching hour.

October 30th and 31st – 4th Annual Haunted House Halloween Fundraiser at Wayo’s Beach Bar.  Costume contest will be on Halloween night, so make sure to come out in your best costume to win a prize. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and drink specials. Admission is $2 for kids, and $5 for adults, and candy at the end of your haunted house tour. This year they are raising funds for Raise Me Up, a local organization dedicated to the betterment of Belize families in need. Proceeds will be distributed between, San Pedro Food Bank, San Pedro Kids Club, Hope Haven Children’s Shelter, Adopt-A-Bear, and the Literacy Program at Holy Cross. Check out Wayos Facebook page for updates.

SAGA Humane Society will do their annual pet party, Palapa Bar. on Sunday Oct 29th see SAGA facebook page for the official announcement.

To find out what is going on around town anytime check the following comprehensive and up to date event calendar: Paradise Guy.

Holiday Hotel Halloween Videos

I will leave you with a couple of short videos.

Just under 2 minutes of fun from the 2015 Holiday Hotel Annual Halloween Party. Click through on Holiday Hotel Halloween Mash Up to see some great costumes – people here go all out.

Every year the Holiday Hotel throws the biggest Halloween Party in Belize and 2016 was no exception. To see last reals Halloween party line up and a wide variety of great costumes click through on 4 Fun Island Style Halloween Parties.

Love Taco Girl Blog @LaurieNorton! I've been reading this blog since I started visiting Ambergris Caye in Belize almost... 10 years ago. It is filled with helpful up-to-date information and recommendations that I wouldn't necessarily find on my own. Laurie Norton's knowledge and extensive network on the island provides her with the ability to share perks/discounts/coupons with her readers, which come in handy year after year. Things on the island change daily - new businesses pop up constantly and LaurieNortonstays on top of these developments. Whenever I plan my return trip to the island, I always check her blog first - and I recommend you do the same. Trip Advisor ain't got nuttin' on Taco Girl!read more

Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s... always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. There is so much information it's amazing! Thank you Laurie!!!read more

I’m so pleased to see tacogirl's blog on Google. Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and... local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. I especially enjoy her guest articles, providing a different perspective of all things San Pedro. Her tipping quide is a classic, and don’t forget her Tropic Air flight code and on-island discounts. You’re not up-to-date with what’s going on in San Pedro if you’re not regularly reading tacogirl's blog.read more

Do yourself a favor. Read this BEFORE any trip to San Pedro - Ambergris Caye or Belize in general. Not saying “do... what everyone else says”, but Laurie has frank and honest info which will make your stay in country a little more fun, a little more informative, and often at a great cost savings. Best thing: it’s unbiased, honest, and factual. Personal note: thank you for your personal tailored help in answering mine (and my wife’s) questions.read more
