Bonne année et bonne santé

Hope the New Year is going well for all of you in spite of any bad weather you might be experiencing - for us it is cold and wind today but at least it is not raining. I picked the title for this post to wish everyone a great year and good health. Bonne année et bonne santé is a well known french expression - my mothers side of the family is French.  It also ties on with my 2012 resolution of health and hap ...

Hurricane Rina pictures

Paul decided we should go for a long walk yesterday since the sun came out and Hurricane Rina was not making us housebound. Paula, Jessie faye and Dick were heading to town so we decided to join them. I have a ton of pics to sort through so I will be adding more throughout the day. Hoping to go to class today but I have a feeling the pool will be closed. Quite a few businesses around town were closed yester ...

Belize time

I never did make it to the beach yesterday, soon as I got to Dick's place to pick him up for a walk it started to rain so we hung out there instead. It is very chilly this morning, enough to be wearing a jacket in the house, I can see how a fireplace could be very handy here at this time of year. I opted for stretching at home and extra hot shower over the pool this morning. I am still working on the piece ...

We got Wet

San Pedro is wet, we  had 4 inches of rain yesterday and getting more right now. The roads are totally waterlogged and many people have small lakes in their yards. Cindy, Paul and I decided to enjoy the wet weather and take the dogs to the beach. While walking we noticed how much old garbage had washed up due to the stormy weather.  A lot of it was old, small bits and pieces. We also did some label reading ...

Why Belize isn’t a third world country

Why Belize isn't a third world country by Sharon Hiebing Ever since contemplating moving to Belize, and then once doing so in 2010, I have often heard it referred to as a Third World country. Just to clarify, I’m not one of those history buffs, or excessively political types, so I only had a notion of what Third World meant. But it just seemed to me after living here for almost a year that the term is a mis ...

Laughter is the best medecine

JD reminded me that laughter is the best medicine at our pool therapy session today, he had us all in stitches. LouAnne brought in some tasters of her homemade raisin bran bread to share and a copy of the recipe definitely worth trying to make. After class I came home and floated in our pool for hours, really enjoying the shade option from our new tarp. Later on, Paul and I decided to go to town to do some ...

New whitewall tires

I made up my mind yesterday that I was going to get Dicks beach cruiser tire repaired, so I could ride it again. I texted Josiemar to see if he was able to fit me in. He replied quickly - anytime was good and to bring the bike over. So I wrapped up work and headed out the door on foot with my bike and music player. As I was walking the back road through San Pablo, Glenn called out to me from his backyard wo ...

Secondly I got some great pool pictures today, I had Eileen meet me early to get some shots of the two of us doing different aquafit moves. I am feeling in really good shape in regards to getting all the pictures I need to go with my magazine article, as long as I get sunny s ...
