Marco Gonzalez Maya Site
Get up close with Mayan culture at Marco Gonzalez. Play archaeologist for a few hours with popular guide, Jan Brown. You will travel a few miles south of town near the tip of Ambergris Caye to a small site area past Laguna de Boca Chica. This eco-tour is unlike any other. Walking the grounds is like taking a step back in time. The black soil is blanketed by broken pottery many centuries old. It is an awe-inspiring experience to walk on ancient Maya grounds.
The 2,000 year old ruin sits on approximately 8 elevated acres. It may be small but it does not disappoint. Learn the story behind the wonder of walking on ancient pottery shard covered ground and respectfully hold the artifacts.

Hol Chan Marine Reserve
A ten-minute boat ride to the marine reserve and another five to Shark Ray Alley is a repeat-worthy trip. Become one with nature and whichever of the several hundred marine species that crosses your path. Don’t forget your waterproof camera and to pop in at Hol Chan Marine Museum located on Caribena Street – northwest in town.
