Continuing my work with the Belize Tourism Board in 2016, I was approached by the BTB to do some writing for them.
They teamed up with The Reporter Newspaper to develop Toucan Talk; a full-page, full-color feature periodical newsletter. These publications are geared at bringing awareness to Belizeans and encouraging them to be a #BelizeanTraveller. The ads will feature different sites, activities, and festivals throughout Belize, and have some great visuals.

September Celebrations are big in Belize.
San Ignacio Belize is a popular place to travel.
Having been involved behind the scenes with San Pedro Lobster Fest from the start, I was happy that in 2016 my advance promotion came in the form of a full-color page ad printed in the Reporter on Friday the 13th. I have also enjoyed Caye Caulker Lobster Fest by boat and have heard Placencia Lobster Fest is worth going to.
I was very honored to write about Easter on Caye Caulker with a couple of pictures and BTB made a great advertisement with my submission.
2015 work with the Belize Tourism Board
- First Annual 2015 Digital Summit speaker
The BTB has always been known for their innovative marketing work so it was only natural that they decided to help local businesses by putting on a Digital Marketing Summit and invite influential speakers from successful agencies and travel-related businesses worldwide. It was a great honor to be selected as a panelist for this much-needed event click through on the blue link above to read about all the great speakers and see the after party at the Princess Hotel and Riverside Tavern.
- Judge for the Belize Tourism Awards
Every year the BTB does tourism awards recognizing local businesses for outstanding work in the community and environmental practices. There is so much effort beyond what most people realize in running a sound business here.
Judging the 2015 Tourism Board awards and was an amazing educational experience as was attending the big awards ceremony at the Holiday Hotel, to enjoy everyone being recognized for their hard work. This year was extra special as it was the 15th annual Belize Tourism Awards, celebrating 50 years of tourism in San Pedro.
The Belize Tourism Board has also shown support to the San Pedro Belize Red Cross. The picture below was taken when they donated a check to our branch to help with the relief of the fire victims. The branch also worked closely with the San Pedro Lions Club in this community effort.
