Exciting News

Banh Mi Belize

Food first today – Banh Mi Belize will be hitting San Pedro very soon!!! The classic french inspired Vietnamese subs will be available through pick up or delivery. Choose between beef sate or chicken sate for only $12.00. Stay tuned for more information – if all goes according to plan I am going to go check it out on Friday. Join Banh Mi Belize facebook page to keep informed.

Travel Second – I have added a new and very useful link in my Belize links sections – Belize Bus Blog by MisterB. Paul and I are going to Ka’ana Resort and Spa for our anniversary later this month and I have been researching getting to Cayo by flying Tropic Air to Municipal  and continuing on by bus. It hit me that more people need to know about Belize Bus website for researching travel plans. That is one of the great things about Belize travel there are so many great options.  You can customize your adventure  go somewhere one way and come back another – seeing new things meeting new people. I think I will also look into Tropic Air 8:00 am direct flight from San Pedro to Belmopan – we can do that on the way there and then  use the municipal airport option on the way back.

MisterB is great I got a reply back from him very quickly and he answered my Belize Bus question.

Me – Can you tell me if it is possible to get a bus to Cayo by making our way to the highway instead of having to go to the bust station in town.

MisterB – After the buses depart from the terminal, they go to Central American Boulevard, around the roundabout at Cemetery Road, and stop at a bus stop on the north-west corner of the intersection of CA Blvd & Cemetery Road. There is a taxi stop on the south side of Cemetery Road opposite the bus stop. It’s a popular stop, so there should be several people waiting.

The buses continue west along Cemetery Road until it becomes the Western Highway. You could wait anywhere along that route, but the taxi fare will increase the further you get from the City, and you’ll be standing in the sun (or rain).

I would suggest going to the bus terminal because there will be a better chance of getting a seat, and a better waiting area (you won’t be standing in the sun).

That Banh Mi sounds/looks great! Where will they be located in San Pedro?

tacogirl 05/11/2010 - 7:51 am

Right now it is a home based take out and delivery business in a building that is on the beach just north of Wet Willy’s area.

Do they have regular vietnamese dishes also? It is my favorite ethnic food! Will be arriving on the 20th, can’t wait. Want to try that Crave restaurant you have been mentioning also.

The subs are all they are doing right now Bob – they may expand a little if all goes well. Keep hearing good reviews on Crave not been yet though.

Love Taco Girl Blog @LaurieNorton! I've been reading this blog since I started visiting Ambergris Caye in Belize almost... 10 years ago. It is filled with helpful up-to-date information and recommendations that I wouldn't necessarily find on my own. Laurie Norton's knowledge and extensive network on the island provides her with the ability to share perks/discounts/coupons with her readers, which come in handy year after year. Things on the island change daily - new businesses pop up constantly and LaurieNortonstays on top of these developments. Whenever I plan my return trip to the island, I always check her blog first - and I recommend you do the same. Trip Advisor ain't got nuttin' on Taco Girl!read more

Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s... always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. There is so much information it's amazing! Thank you Laurie!!!read more

I’m so pleased to see tacogirl's blog on Google. Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and... local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. I especially enjoy her guest articles, providing a different perspective of all things San Pedro. Her tipping quide is a classic, and don’t forget her Tropic Air flight code and on-island discounts. You’re not up-to-date with what’s going on in San Pedro if you’re not regularly reading tacogirl's blog.read more

Do yourself a favor. Read this BEFORE any trip to San Pedro - Ambergris Caye or Belize in general. Not saying “do... what everyone else says”, but Laurie has frank and honest info which will make your stay in country a little more fun, a little more informative, and often at a great cost savings. Best thing: it’s unbiased, honest, and factual. Personal note: thank you for your personal tailored help in answering mine (and my wife’s) questions.read more
