What a whirlwind it has been since I returned home Monday morning from covering the Agriculture show in Belmopan. Right before I was about to have a travel related Skype interview, a bunch of my important files disappeared off my laptop. I managed to remain calm and focus on the task at hand and not get too bummed out by it. Thankfully my tech help was able to help me recover some of the files, but we have not had time to find the rest. My interview went well, and my homework was to make a short video resume in less than 24 hours, and get tacoboy to do a 10 min interview asap. Mission accomplished on both counts – you can see my video below. My focus quickly turned to travel TV shows to travel trade shows as the Belize Tourism Expo was starting, and I needed to book our hotel in Belize City and hop on a plane. Shirlee and I both arrived yesterday. I was on the 2:00 PM Tropic Air flight and she caught the 4:00 PM and met up with me. While waiting for her to turn up I took a walk around the neighborhood and decided a trip to Simon Quan and lunch was in order. There were lots more places I wanted to go, but I had to make it back to the hotel before Shirlee arrived. We are staying at Bella Sombra Guest House which is a stones throw from the swing bridge and very close to the Princess Hotel, where BETEX is happening. The staff is very friendly, rooms are clean, comfortable and the price is right. I would definitely stay here again. My video resume shows a small slice of what it is like having traded in Canadian winters to live my dream life on the tropical island of Ambergris Caye.
Coming up soon in San Pedro is the next SAGA cook-off, don’t forget to mark your calendar. It will be held at Carlo & Ernie’s Runway Bar on Tuesday, May 13 at 6:00 PM. Not only will you get to sample a ton of great food for a super reasonable price, you will have a good time, meet some cool people and be supporting a really great cause.
