Tropic Air Flying from Belize to Mexico

Tropic Air Commences New Flights to Belize from Cancun

On Saturday, November 1, 2014 Tropic Air opened a new chapter in its long history of providing flights to Belize when Flight 6621 took off from Cancun, Mexico piloted by Belizean pilots, Captain Alberto Ancona and Co-Captain Wally Nunez. The arrival of Flight 6621 and its passengers at 8:15pm at the Phillip Goldson International Airport marked the launch of an entirely new venture into scheduled night time operations to and from our country.

This flight, as well as one that leaves Cancun at 1:00pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays, is in addition to the 2:00pm departure (except Tuesday’s and Saturday’s) Cancun – Belize flight. It will, for the first time, allow same day connections from Europe to Belize via Cancun. This is a travel option that has been long sought by the tourism industry. The flight is being marketed in conjunction with Germany’s Condor Airlines, a Thomas Cook affiliate.

The flight’s schedule allows for connections to Condor’s flights to and from Frankfurt, Munich, London and Manchester in Cancun, and opens up other convenient travel opportunities to passengers. In addition to Condor and Thomas Cook, it is now possible to connect from other airlines such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Iberia, Air France, Aerolineas Argentinas, LAN, Aeromexico, Air Canada and Westjet.

Passengers arriving at Belize international airport on this new flight will have an onward connection to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye (departs BZE at 9:10 pm) available on those two service days.

Tropic Air wishes to acknowledge the help of the Belize Airport Concession Company  (BACC), The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Department of Immigration and Customs, and the Belize Tourism Board for making this new service possible.

Tropic Air currently operates a fleet of 15 aircraft to 16 destinations in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico. With over 290 employees, Tropic Air will carry over 300,000 passengers in 2014. Keep updated on Tropic Air Belize Facebook page.

Belize is a perfect retirement place especially if you both love to snorkel and explore. San Pedro has has world class snorkeling very close (minutes away) by with Hol Chan marine reserve and Mexico Rocks. Caribbean Villas is a great spot to land with a nice beach bar and food onsite. It is not far from town, about a mile south. Check out this map of Dive and Snorkeling Sites off Ambergris Caye, Belize – it is full of options within 25 mile range http://ambergriscaye.com/pages/town/divesitesBIG.html Also keep in mind the reef is only a mile offshore.

Hi, we are flying into BZE May 29, 2015 and departing June 6. This is a trip we have had on our bucket list for a couple of years and is also a destination we are looking at for possible retirement in the future. My husband and I are SCUBA divers and we also like to snorkel and explore. We are not into the party scene, but more laid back travelers. After a day of diving/exploring we like to have some cold beers, a good meal, and clean room to sleep in. That said, we are looking for a place to stay that is close to the beach and not so far from good diving and/or snorkeling. I was thinking we would stay at San Pedro, but I’ve been reading that it does not have good snorkeling and is about a 2 hours boat trip from good diving areas (atolls). I then looked at Caye Caulker but it doesn’t seem to have the beaches. We do not want to stay somewhere that we have to rent a car to get around; so need close proximity to town. I’m very intrigued by Placencia but at the time of year we are traveling, I’m worried it might be more rainy, plus it seems a bit far from BZE for our flight back. I read (somewhere in all my research) that you are a good source of info on Belize so I thought, what the heck, I’ll send an email and see what your recommendations are on places for us to stay. Thanks for your help! ~Vicki

    Hi-
Just to give you an idea of what we want to accomplish-arrive to Cancun on the 6th, enjoy the day via beach or hotel pool in Playa-eat in downtown Playa and be at Xtan Ha in Ambergris Caye as early as possible on the 7th.

Let me know what you think and if possible can answer any of my questions: We will be arriving in Cancun around 11am in April. My plan was to take the ADO bus directly to a cheap hotel in Playa Del Carmen, drop the bags off and freshen up if need be. Enjoying the beach and the downtown for the day. Then catching the bus from Playa Del Carmen. I am torn between going to Chetumal and taking a water taxi to San Pedro or going to Belize via transfer service and Tropic Air from Corozal. Is there a better solution to my trip that I’m missing? What are your thoughts?
