The Best Readers a Girl Could Hope For

I’m celebrating because it is Friday and because I have the best readers a girl could hope for. Thanks to my many flight code users, the Belize Cancer Center and Blue Water Community benefit with monthly donations. By using the code horizon when booking your Tropic Air flights online, you are giving back to a country in need (at no extra cost to you).

  • May donations came to a total of $404 to both the Blue Water Grill community and the Belize Cancer Center, located in Dangriga.
  • June donations brought in $305 for each of the same two charitable causes.

Thanks to you, the Cancer Center gets a bit of financial relief. They are faced with subsidizing 55 patients per month that cannot afford treatment. As for the BWG community, the much-needed hematology analyzer will go a long way to helping Ambergris Caye residents receive improved healthcare through faster diagnosis.

I have also heard from a few readers, in addition to helping through using Flight Code for a Cause, that they also greatly enjoyed the 15% duty-free promo code and the excellent savings it offers.

Tropic Air News

All the excitement for recent (and long-awaited) airline news leads to November and the start of high season.

New Flights to Placencia

In addition to their 9 daily flights, Tropic Air will add 5 new departure times to Placencia from Belize City and 4 return flights from Placencia on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Extra flights will commence on November 15, 2018. They will fulfill a need due to the growing popularity of Placencia and the surrounding area as vacation hot spots.
Update 2020 – The Placencia Airstrip is currently being upgraded. See my full article on the Placencia Runway Closure. Stay tuned to my site for updates along the way.

Caye Caulker Runway Update

Now for the greatly anticipated news. Service to Caye Caulker airport is scheduled to resume on November 15th, 2018. The runway was closed in September of 2017 in order to build a completely new airfield. In their press release, Tropic Air President John Greif III stated, “Now that the renovations to the airstrip are nearing completion, we are happy to let the residents know that we are back and ready to fly more tourists to the island”. CEO Steve Schulte added that they are prepared to move that date up if the airport renovation work finishes earlier.

I will leave you with a few flight pictures I have taken. The first one is the Placencia Airport. The second was a recent plane shot as it was taking off from the end of the San Pedro airstrip and lastly, a Caye Caulker aerial.
