From Infant One – Our 5 year olds
“I am thankful for my sister and brother.”
“I am thankful for the sun.”
“I am thankful for my family.”
“I am thankful for my house.”
“I am thankful for my fish.”
“I am thankful for my flowers”
“I am thankful for the sun and river”
“I am thankful for my street.” (the new roads in San Mateo)
From Standard Three – our 9 and 10 year olds
“I am thankful for the dentists because they check our teeth.”
“I am thankful for my teachers because they help us to read.”
“I am thankful for my health because and I am strong and I keep my body clean.”
“I am thankful for the teachers because they help us to learn.”
“I am thankful for the playground because I have a place to play.”
“I am thankful for the dentists who visit our school because they clean our teeth.”
“I am thankful for the feeding program because we get a healthy meal every day.”
“I am thankful for my health because there are a lot of sick and dying children in the world.”
“I am thankful for my family because they are always encouraging me to get higher grades and do my best.”
“I am thankful for my family because my family helps me do my homework.”
“I am thankful for my scholarship because my family is poor.”
From Standard Four – Our 10 and 11 year olds
“I would like to thank you for the playground and feeding program, for giving scholarships, for children, life, parents and cloths, for everything – especially for teachers or we wouldn’t be as smart as we are.”
“I am thankful for lunch because I am very hungry and have nothing to eat.
“I am thankful for lunches because I am hungry some times.”
“I am thankful for our education, for Holy Cross and for my family. I appreciate everything from the shoes we get to the chalk that the teachers use to teach us.”
“I am thankful for my parents because they take care of me and feed me.”
“I am thankful for the love from my family and my education.”
“I am thankful for the teachers at Holy Cross.”
“I am thankful for having something to eat every day.”
“I am thankful for the school because if the school did not exist I would be dumb.” (!)
“I am thankful for everything at my school and for an education.”
“I am thankful for my family.”
“I am glad for having such great parents because they buy me new things and toys.”
“I want to give God thanks for the water. I want to give God thanks for the education. I want to give God thanks for the food we eat at the school of Holy Cross. I want to give God thanks for the teachers.”
“I am thankful for food, clothes, parents, life and an education. I am thankful for what I have.”
“I am thankful for my teacher because he is giving me a pretty good education. Thanks for water, the food and energy. If we didn’t have these things we will starve and weaken. Thanks for everything.”
“I am thankful for my teacher because he is giving me a good education. I hope to pass Std 6 [final year of primary school.] I am thankful for everything God gave me, including such a good family.”

On behalf of the faculty, office workers and all the other shareholders of Holy Cross Anglican School I would like to take this opportunity to say a great big thank you to all God’s people out there who opened their hearts to the children of the school and have donated, whether cash or kind, to make life more liveable for them and for our teachers. Thank you and may you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, a blessed Christmas and a very prosperous New Year.
