San Pedro Poly Clinic ll
I wanted to share with you an important email from bonnieandclyde – see below. Bonnie and her husband moved here and wanted to get involved in the local community. They both decided to join the lions group – a fine organization. Bonnie has also put her valuable skills to use in volunteering for Dr Efrain Cima.
Next week starting Monday, Nov 10th, the Lion’s Den will be hosts to a group of approximately 100 Doctors, Dentists, Dental Assistants and Veterinarians from the US – this group is known as the “Belize Mission Project†They will be setting up a FREE Dental Clinic at the Lion’s Den and will be accepting patients from 8:30AM – 12 noon and 1PM till 4:00PM, Monday Nov 10 – 14. During this time they will be offering cleanings, restoration procedures, extractions, dentures
PLEASE get the word out to all of Ambergris Caye for this great opportunity to come and be taken care of. Also any donation would be appreciated especially adult toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and any clerical equipment.
I am now a volunteer at the Poly Clinic as a dental assistant working under Dr Efrain Cima. Dr Cima joined the San Pedro Poly Clinic in the Dental Department about a 1 year and 10 months ago and along with his dental responsibilities, he is also the acting administrator for the Clinic. Dr Cima came from Corozal and loves San Pedro. Every Tueday or Thursday he visits the schools on the island and Caye Caulker to teach the preschool children through the age of 13 Dental Health Education which hopefully in the future I will be joining him.
The Poly Clinic right now has a staff of 10 and 2 volunteer. The Clinic really could use a lot more volunteer especially in the Human Resource areas, Nurses Aids, Record Nurse, Receptionist and other areas. If anyone has any free time it would be gratefully appreciated to help out even a couple hours or a couple days a week.
