This year I decided to lay low and do a quiet night at home watching TV, then hit the big party at Central Park San Pedro just before midnight. I love being a city girl. It was easy for me to leave my house around 11:50 pm and walk over to the beach for midnight.
I snapped a pic of the girls below as I could have done a whole glitterati themed post, there were so many girls that sparkled their way into 2020. I was doing so emotionally more so than fashion-wise and just threw on a simple print dress.
Another “print” I like is fireworks, they are one of my favorite things to photograph. I love the challenge of trying to capture a vibrant and unique imprint of the explosion. Below are four of my best shots from that night.
May your 2020 be just as good as this first picture, dynamically popping and exploding with sparkle and color.
Starting off the new year with a bouquet of golden flowers for all of us. Remember to treat yourself well and enjoy many pleasures in 2020.
This next one I used for my social media (Instagram and Facebook) that night and the following two quotes with it. The first one went on Facebook and the second, Instagram.
- ”Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson
- “What the new year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the new year.” —Vern McLellan
Make this your year to shine and really move forward in whatever direction you see yourself going. What does a happy, healthy 2020 look like in your world?
Mine is going to be like last year but even better – fun, fabulous, inspired and successful to name a few of a very long list 😀 For me it is not so much about resolutions but a lifestyle.
Next came the party. As I walked down the beach towards it I saw tons of people. I enjoyed a few minutes being an almost invisible spectator and just randomly snapping party pics.
While capturing a good show shot, I caught a bit of Groupo Montana from Merida Mexico and San Pedro’s own DJ Debbie emceeing.
Central Park was absolutely packed. It was a perfect night for a street party – warm and dry.
A sea of people in every direction all coming together to ring in the new year thanks to San Pedro Town Council. They always do a great job helping the island people ring in the new year.
I stayed at the party for about 20 minutes or so after the fireworks. It was just as crowded walking back down the beach, heading home… and I saw another red glitterati 😀
This next pic brings us back to the beginning and what got me started on the decision to do this post in the first place (provided I could get up out of bed in time without an alarm.)
The Middle Street Atlantic Bank ATM had a lineup so I decided to alter my planned route and head to the Front Street machine. This got me heading north on Front St. past Central Park, and catching the starting excitement of early road closure and the big annual New Years’ Eve street party set up.
The town council beer tent was on the street side, instead of in the park which made good sense. A nice afternoon and the sky definitely held the promise of a great evening.
As I come up to my anniversary of moving to Belize tomorrow, (January 3rd 2006) I feel just as lucky now as I did then to be starting my new year on a tropical island (picture to make you jealous below). 😀
My 2020 is going to be smooth sailing and just as dreamy and colorful. I wish all of you the same.
