New Year Parties and Tropical Christmas Holidays in Belize

Christmas Holidays in Belize

Christmas Holidays in Belize Thankfully today we are getting our showers out of the way early so we can hopefully have a dry New Year’s Eve. Tonight the view in the picture will be alive with people. If you are in town head to Nook (on the left, above) for some pre-party dinner. Make it a unique holiday experience, when the road becomes foot traffic only they put tables out front. Tonight will be lots of fun at Nook as well as the other venues listed below.

Outdoor Xmas Meal

First off, what’s Christmas without a few Reindeer. I was invited to a small dinner by my friend Cindy being held on our friend Diana’s Veranda. So I decided to make Cindy’s daughter Tinker (Océane) a reindeer frisbee.

Christmas Holidays in Belize

As is often the case with Christmas Holidays in Belize, it was a perfect day for outdoor dining. A comfortable 69°F or 21°C. I layered and wore a light long sleeve shirt just in case but I really did not need it and was glad I left my scarf at home.

Christmas Holidays in Belize

As a sugar girl, Cindy made it my main party job to bring Tinker Sodas. I made a colorful holiday choice of a lesser-known Belizean brand from Orange Walk Town that I buy at Save On – Belize’s Old Fashioned Lemonade. Of course, being a good holiday “auntie taco,” there was no policing going on of the soda after it was gifted. We watched her promptly open up four bottles and start playing mix master, coming up with a lovely shade of emerald green for Christmas.

The food was fabulous thanks to all the cooks. For dessert, we had some yummy shortbread cookies (wishing I had one now). I took a couple of my favorite treats – Rocky road and turtle brownies from the Greenhouse market.

Notice the absence of sargasso? The beach and shoreline are still looking fine right now.

2019 Party Line up

The fireworks pic below was from last year’s party at the3sixty rooftop bar at Playa De Sala. That was super fun watching the fireworks in town from down south. See the seven parties I hit the previous year (2017) in my Hitchhikers Guide to Ambergris Caye. That was a fun time as I traveled by foot and hitching rides. Starting in town to fairly far south at Black Orchid all the way north across the bridge with a few stops along the way, and then back to the Palapa Bar for midnight fireworks.

Love Taco Girl Blog @LaurieNorton! I've been reading this blog since I started visiting Ambergris Caye in Belize almost... 10 years ago. It is filled with helpful up-to-date information and recommendations that I wouldn't necessarily find on my own. Laurie Norton's knowledge and extensive network on the island provides her with the ability to share perks/discounts/coupons with her readers, which come in handy year after year. Things on the island change daily - new businesses pop up constantly and LaurieNortonstays on top of these developments. Whenever I plan my return trip to the island, I always check her blog first - and I recommend you do the same. Trip Advisor ain't got nuttin' on Taco Girl!read more

Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s... always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. There is so much information it's amazing! Thank you Laurie!!!read more

I’m so pleased to see tacogirl's blog on Google. Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and... local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. I especially enjoy her guest articles, providing a different perspective of all things San Pedro. Her tipping quide is a classic, and don’t forget her Tropic Air flight code and on-island discounts. You’re not up-to-date with what’s going on in San Pedro if you’re not regularly reading tacogirl's blog.read more

Do yourself a favor. Read this BEFORE any trip to San Pedro - Ambergris Caye or Belize in general. Not saying “do... what everyone else says”, but Laurie has frank and honest info which will make your stay in country a little more fun, a little more informative, and often at a great cost savings. Best thing: it’s unbiased, honest, and factual. Personal note: thank you for your personal tailored help in answering mine (and my wife’s) questions.read more
