I was recently invited to a cool party across the bridge by a friend who was doing some marketing for a new North Ambergris Caye Hot Spot and he said I could bring a plus one. I picked my friend Sandie as is always willing to play chauffeur and I knew she would enjoy a relaxing poolside party. I knew it would be a great place to catch up with all the “north” people we do not see often, and there were many that day. It was a great party. We were treated to an afternoon of delicious tropical cocktails, tasty treats and live poolside music by Dennis Wolfe. It was great chatting with all our North Ambergris Caye friends that we do not see as often. We also got to tour the rooms at Casitas Tres Cocos. Of course, I instantly fell in love with Casita Crocodile and the big white towel croc guarding the cozy looking bed. As we walked down the path looking at some of the other rooms, another one that captured my attention had an outside shower and private plunge pool. In addition to the big king bed, it also had a private kitchen and an adjoining casita option. Another feature I really liked about the rooms is their unique long tiled double sink design.

Plus one Review by Sandie Betz-Eisenberg I had a fabulous time socializing with Island Northerners, (folks that I don’t see very often, as I live way down south) last week at the Youcan Toucan, the newest of the up north hot spots on Ambergris Caye. The bar and the 6 new casitas were built with impeccable attention to detail. The builder and I spoke for a bit while he was dusting off a hand print from the top of one of the tables in the bar. He’ll get used to the dust, eventually. He told me that beautiful native hardwoods were used throughout the site which included a unique to the island offering (I believe); beer pong table! The builder’s nephew was busy entertaining 3 lovely ladies with a rousing game while we were there. The bar also has a swim-up side where the lap pool, with its multicolored lighting, offers seating. I can imagine jumping in after a hot day of touring the mainland and ordering one of the bar’s yummy specialty drinks. The thing about the rooms that impressed me the most are the large, gorgeous double sinks made with small colorful inlaid tiles. The origami towels on the beds in the shapes of crocodiles, lizards, and kinkajou were also impressive, as is the multicolored Jacuzzi in the largest room, (which comes with a small, well-appointed kitchen, and can be combined with the adjoining casita to make very nice accommodations for a group.) We enjoyed socializing on the comfy cushioned lounge chairs around the pool as I tasted the very fresh & delicious ceviche. All of the other complimentary offerings were either meat or chicken ~ not doable for this veg/pescatarian, but I heard they were very tasty, as well.
