Paul and I sometimes reminisce about how we miss living in town -everything was so close and easy. We decided to recapture that feeling this weekend and spend a night at The Mayan Princess Hotel.
On the way our princess party we both agreed that first order of business was to turn the A/C up and cool down for a bit. When we got there we were pleasantly surprised – the ocean breeze was more than enough and we did not even use the A/C or ceiling fans.
Our room was very well set up; open concept, comfortable king size bed, living room area, kitchen, and lots of space to put our stuff. Best of all, big french doors with a fantastic view. We both headed straight for the veranda and spent a lot of time staring at the sea and people watching.
Even though I really liked the fact that we had a small kitchen with cooking options in our room there was no way I was going to be doing any cooking – fridge did get well used for snacks and drinks though. We opted for Banh Mi Belize at Lola’s – 2 minutes down the road and the obvious choice for dinner. We walked over and ordered our food (beef tacos and a shrimp rice bowl) then proceeded to DandE’s for dessert before dinner while Cori was making our food. I had lemon sorbet with a fudge bulls eye and Paul went for peanut butter ice cream with a fudge bulls eye and peanuts on top – both on sugar cones of course.
The next morning my internal alarm clock had me up at 5:00 AM to catch the sunrise – unfortunately mother nature was feeling cloudy. A while later I went to go get some milk for our iced coffee and was pleasantly surprised to find continental breakfast in the lobby so I made us a tray and brought it back up to our room.
Seashell – I can see why this is your favorite place to stay when you come to Ambergris Caye. Thanks to Christine and Dennis for encouraging us to give it a try and the Mayan Princess staff for making our stay a great one.
