Catamaran beach bar was packed last night for our Neighborhood Watch meeting. Residents of San Marcos and San Pablo joined together to get better acquainted with their neighbors and share ideas on how to make these areas safer.
San Marcos and San Pablo span from the street where Crystal Water depot is on north to Hideaway Bar at the south end and the western boundary begins at Seagrape / Coconut drive – east to the airstrip.
We all agreed it is not just about “our house” and more so about looking at the bigger picture and building a sense of safety and security within the community as a whole. To kick that off we are planning to have a clean up day on Sunday at the abandoned church lot in our area – anyone is welcome to come out and join the gang and donations of garbage bags are welcome. For more information please email neighbourhoodwatchsanpablo[at]yahoo.ca
It was also discussed how we can all light – listen and look. Make sure you have adequate lighting and remember to help your neighbor do same if they are unable to handle that task themselves. If you hear dogs on your street barking in a way that is different that usual take a look out the window and see if you notice anything or anyone out of the ordinary. If you have a camera handy take a picture it may prove useful.
If anyone out there in the world has any good neighborhood safety tips to share with us here in Ambergris Caye Belize please leave comment below or send email to nw address listed above.
After the meeting Mitch Paul and I went to Sun Up for Chinese take out. Cori drove by – Mitch flagged her down to hang out with us while we waited for our food and score a ride home – thanks for the ride. I have to say that the chicken fingers and crispy fries last night were the best they have served me to date.

Hi Cher I will shoot you an email soon. Lots of great schools to donate to or volunteer at here. That is exciting your first trip.
Hi Taco Girl,
I got your name and addy from our mutual friend, Henry Zacharias. My family and I are planning a visit to San Pedro in December – our first time to Belize and looking forward to it. I have been surfing some San Pedro websites and noticed something about schools and I feel that I may be able to help a bit. I’m an elementary school teacher and we have some unused textbooks in our store room and that the schools in San Pedro are looking for donations. I was wondering if you knew of who to connect me with so that I could make an informed donation. I hope you can help me out.
Thanks Ruthie – definitely an easy option. I just have it set to my home page.
I’ve been using RSS from the get-go, works great!

Heck with tagging you in my favorites, I am so loving your Tweets on Twitter as I can link right off of that and boom I am reading up on the events. I wish that everyone did this so it would save my going to see if a new post has been made.
