Last night went to see Lara Paul h and Jim doing fire show for a wedding at Ramon’s. Was a great show they were all in sync and the wedding party loved it.
Afterward Lara, Tim, Tina, Derek and I went to Fido’s to watch Gino and Jim play.
Got into some great conversation with Jim and Derek on marketing and going green. Found out that Derek met Donny Deutsch one of my favorite people for inspiration. Derek said that he is the same in person as he is on tv – I always pictured him to be genuine and for some reason I was glad to hear that he is who he appears to be.
—More to come on that -power went out earlier so instead of having a rest time and getting my blog done I headed to hideaway to meet the gang and we all went to Hidden Treasures for dinner. Right now I need to be horizontal with remote in my hand.—
When I got home from Fido’s I was all inspired and excited. Paul was sleeping so I decided to watch tv a bit. I happened to come across Forecast Earth on the weather channel that caught my attention. David Suzuki was speaking – he was talking about not having illusions that he is going to save the planet – if his grandkids one day say my Grandpa he did the best he could he will be happy. He went onto say how if we all do the best we can that we can collectively have a huge impact on the earth.
They also featured a very interesting woman who came up with a brilliant idea Recyclable envelopes. Instead of having the return envelope with bills she created a system where there is only one envelope and it can be sent back to the company – I think that is a fantastic idea.
It seems like the dots are connecting lately for me on the “go green” area. Recently on the message board there was a great post on Balance and I got a great idea from Sweet Jane and Amanda Syme to take Tupperware instead of collecting Styrofoam containers for take out food or left overs at restaurants. Marty also posted a thread on sunscreen – after reading his post and our snorkel trip to Coral Gardens last Monday, seeing the dry bleached looking state of the coral I could not help but wonder why no one is selling environmentally friendly sunscreen down here.
Did breakfast with Stacy today and Georges and we also got on topic of going green and things like re-usable shopping bags and household cleaners.
I am in love with my spray bottles and I use them often have one for mixing my Dr Bronners soap in, one with just water in case of power outs and for hurricane season I call it my portable shower and another one that I mix coconut oil lavender water and tea tree in as a moisturizer spray. Stacy said she uses a mix of vinegar and tea tree or lavender as a house hold cleaner. I made the decision to give that a try and after I finish my current spray cleansers, I will not buy more as they are too chemical not good for the ecosystem.
We are all still waiting for someone to open a health food store here and have so many ideas to contribute if someone is interested.
Stacy also mentioned that she was at the tennis club pool recently and they need donations of swimsuits. Many local people on the island just wear regular clothing in the water.
The tennis club does not want street clothes in the pool to keep it cleaner so they asked her to get the word out that donations of new or gently used swimsuits would greatly be appreciated so they can give them to families who do not have them instead of telling them they cannot swim.
