Giant Lobster found in pool at Grand Caribe Resort

Sunday was a perfect day for my party, we decided to enjoy it to the fullest and head to Grand Caribe early even though my invite was for noon.  Cindy and I took charge of the packing, of course we ended up with a floaty toy convoy.  Nothing like driving through town with a bunch of blow ups strapped to your cart.  After a quick stop in town for more hoops we were on our way north.

Once we crossed the bridge that Sunday drive in the country getting away from it all feeling hit me, such a scenic road and filled with good memories. Grand Caribe is only 2 miles north so it was not long before we were at the resort, thankfully the roads were in great condition. When we arrived, Beth and Char were already at the pool,  smart girls had the same idea as we did – more pool side party time.

What a fantastic day perfect tropical September weather I am so glad I had my birthday at Grand Caribe Resort, I could not think of a better place. We ate, drank, hula hooped and floated in the pool for hours. It was totally  my idea of a perfect party brought to life. Cowboy Doug was an excellent host and the staff at Cowboy Doug’s Bar and Grill did a great job at making sure we were well taken care of. Thank you to Grand Caribe for putting up with my floaty toy invasion and for my birthday present – a complimentary drink  at the swim up pool bar for all my party guests. Loved the handmade sign from Cowboy too.

I am officially the last man standing aside from Cowboy,  it is 8:33pm [the day after] and I have not made it home yet. Cowboy Doug is letting me use his lap top to get this post started. I have a lot of pictures to edit so you will have to wait till I get back to my own machine tomorrow for pics of the beach front condo, and our pool party fun. Thinking I need to pack better next time I pool party there ha ha.

Colder weather is coming fast and I know many of you are in Belize vacation planning mode. If you missed my write up on the 14 night special Grand Caribe Resort is offering check North Ambergris Caye News post for details. Don’t forget to join Grand Caribe facebook fan page to keep updated on future specials and daily news. And for entertainment Cowboy Doug will have you rofl on Cowboy Dougs Grill facebook page.

3:36pm Tuesday, I finally made it home. Cowboy offered me a ride, he had a few errands  to run and I told him I could help him out for finding some of the things he needed. Along the way we ended up with an invite to Pedro’s for some of Waiter’s famous stew and the Arsenal game – always a good time. Then Cowboy was nice enough to drive me home and came for a tour of our place.

I just finished unpacking and noticed I was feeling much like many of you do when you get home from a trip to Ambergris Caye and find yourself having to get back to the real world. I am already missing Grand Caribe and the peaceful vacation feeling. We do not get away enough, I am sure many of you can relate.

I was pleased after a quick check on on tacogirl.com facebook page, I saw that at least one person fell for my giant lobster found in the pool at Grand Caribe Belize trick. I definitely have my work cut out for me, 315 pictures  and 8 videos to edit not even ready to see what gmail is looking like h ha. I am still missing the proper codex for movie maker on this lap top so I will have to get that sorted out before I can get Emily’s hula show on tacogirl.com youtube.

Hi Laurie,
Happy belated birthday and many more to come. What a pity I could not be there to help you celebrate, though you don’t seem to have had much in the way of needing help. Sounds like my kind of shindig!!!!!! I always say, ” what’s the use of having a party, if you can’t overindulge.” Good place to hold it, as well, ‘cos there is no clean up after!!!! Now back to the real world, well kinda.
Alan S.
P.S. I see we were both born on the 13th, but mine was the 3rd month and the 33rd year!!!!

Thanks Al, I think this is the nicest comment you have left me so far – what a great birthday present 🙂
I could not have picked a better place to hold it or have better people show up to help me celebrate 44. My day is actually the 8th.

Nice to put faces to your names Chip and Bonnie, so glad Cowboy Doug wrangled you off the beach. I just friend requested you and Chip on facebook, that is an easy way to keep up with the lot of us. Come to Thursday night Trivia at Pedro’s 7pm this week if you are up for it. More party pics coming, trying to catch up on emails so I can get back to blogging.

That is exactly what I was hoping for Sharon and why I titled the post as I did. Best birthday ever.

Love Taco Girl Blog @LaurieNorton! I've been reading this blog since I started visiting Ambergris Caye in Belize almost... 10 years ago. It is filled with helpful up-to-date information and recommendations that I wouldn't necessarily find on my own. Laurie Norton's knowledge and extensive network on the island provides her with the ability to share perks/discounts/coupons with her readers, which come in handy year after year. Things on the island change daily - new businesses pop up constantly and LaurieNortonstays on top of these developments. Whenever I plan my return trip to the island, I always check her blog first - and I recommend you do the same. Trip Advisor ain't got nuttin' on Taco Girl!read more

Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s... always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. There is so much information it's amazing! Thank you Laurie!!!read more

I’m so pleased to see tacogirl's blog on Google. Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and... local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. I especially enjoy her guest articles, providing a different perspective of all things San Pedro. Her tipping quide is a classic, and don’t forget her Tropic Air flight code and on-island discounts. Do yourself a favor. Read this BEFORE any trip to San Pedro - Ambergris Caye or Belize in general. Not saying “do... what everyone else says”, but Laurie has frank and honest info which will make your stay in country a little more fun, a little more informative, and often at a great cost savings. Best thing: it’s unbiased, honest, and factual. Personal note: thank you for your personal tailored help in answering mine (and my wife’s) questions.read more
