Congratulations goes out to Toledo, Stan Creek, Corozal and Orange Walk all have newly elected Branch Boards and San Pedro is looking forward to holding our upcoming election and becoming a vibrant active branch and a leader of the Belize Red Cross Medical Safety Program.
Yesterday Red Cross Director General Lily Bowman came out to oversee the Elections of the San Pedro Branch Board and guide us through the next stages of getting our board in order and building a solid branch foundation so we can really begin to grow the Medical Safety program strong in San Pedro and country wide.
We are pleased to announce a strong board who are all ready to help grow the San Pedro Branch and serve the community. All positions were filled by unanimous vote.
Chairperson – Mr. Eiden Salazar (owner of Reef Radio)
Vice-Chairperson – Mr. Anthony Anderson (DM Consultant)
Secretary – Mr. Phillip Ramsey (TWC National Trainer)
Treasurer – Carolyn Kumar (retired businesswoman)
3 Ordinary Members:
Ms. Cheryl Bowman (Retired Academic Advisor & Educator)
Mr. Sandro Cob (Employee at the Victoria House)
Mr. Frank Panton (Member of BRC’s DMC)
Youth – Ms. Sweeenie Diego (Student President at high school)
We are still looking for an office coordinator to be in the office minimum 3 days a week and help with organization and operation of the branch. Stipend position.
We are also looking for people interested in becoming certified first aid instructors and a permanent location or a branch office that has room to do first aid training and other courses.
A big round of applause to Fido’s for hosting the course and providing a budget friendly and delicious lunch for our trainees. All the businesses that are sending staff to get certified Tuesday, the individuals that signed up for the course and all those that sponsored a spot so someone else can go. Black Orchid has pledged to host an April training at the restaurant and have 6 of their staff get certified. Participating in Tuesday’s course: The Phoenix, SACNW, Blue Tang, Elvis’ Kitchen, Banana Beach Resort, Coco Loco’s Victoria House, Pedro’s Hotel, Grand Caribe Resort, Cowboy’s Pool bar and grill are all sending staff for training. El Divino is sponsoring someone from Holy Cross or San Mateo area, Cowboy’s Pool bar sponsoring a space for the post office. Leisa Mercer sponsoring a place for the post office and Tortuga chic is sponsoring a space.
I would also like to mention that after Tuesday Both The Phoenix and Victoria House will have 10 trained staff at their resorts. SACNW will have 8 and is going to be sending as many as they can to the April training since it is right in their area. That us HUGE 🙂

Cost: $50bz per participant with all funds raised going to the Red Cross.
Lunch: $13 bzd and basic drink is included.
