I was surprised to read the information below and learn that temporarily, I will not be able to fly to Caye Caulker. Not that I do it often but occasionally it is a special treat to be able to.
Caye Caulker Island Flight Suspension
Tropic Air and Maya Island Air have sent a joint press release to inform the public that both airlines will suspend all scheduled flights to Caye Caulker Island. The suspension takes effect on October 1, 2017.
As a result of the runway exhibiting severe deterioration, this precautionary measure. It is necessary to avoid safety and operational concerns that fall below acceptable margins for public flight service.
Caye Caulker’s Village Council and the Belize Airports Authority received a request for immediate renovation of the runway in order to meet the Caye Caulker’s approaching tourism high season along with the suspension information.
Flights to Caye Caulker will resume promptly after completion of necessary renovation to the island’s airstrip.
Travelers with reservations to Caye Caulker should contact their respective carrier for information on the status of their journey. An alternative travel method (water taxi) will need to used to reach this popular island destination.

It is about Belize government responding of safety concerns after both airlines brought forward awareness on the urgent need for repairs to Caye Caulker airport runway. Belize Airports Authority, Caye Caulker Village Council, Caye Caulker BTIA and Belize Social Security Board are all working together for a resolution.
