Beach Wedding

San Pedro Belize beach pictures

Some of you may remember a while back I mentioned a surprise invitation – today is the day the cat comes out of the bag on that one. We are headed 4 miles south to Casa Hol Chan to our first wedding of 2010 – Matt aka buzzbean and Karen’s are tying the knot.

More details pics to come got 267 of them to sort through in the morning.

I have been sitting here trying to think of what I wanted to say about the wedding. It had much more of an impact on me than I expected and Paul says same. For me it started on our bike ride with a sense of adventure in riding 4 miles south for a wedding at a place we had never been (seen it from the water many times). I did not totally know what to expect I just knew we were going to have a good time and share in Matt and Karen’s special day. Dulce was the wedding planner and she brought her friend and Mike and Gary two great musicians. Eiden gave a wonderful ceremony and there was not a dry eye in the house when Mike sang his wedding song as part of it. We even had a wedding crasher a dog next door by the name of Boozer – found out his name through wedding message board post.

By the end pf the day we were all blissed outand to top it off Paul called us to come fast on the balcony to catch the end of an incredible sunset. Afterward Matt Karen Paul and I hopped on our bikes and headed for El Divino for a nice dinner. I found some romantic music for the ride between Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. Then one of my fav old songs came on the hokey pokey by Ray Anthony and Dorris Day and we did the hokey pokey while riding down the road.

I almost forgot Buzz wins the award for best rum punch. His blender mix of pineapple juice banana rum and a special orange secret ingredient was a big hit. Can anyone guess what his secret ingredient is?

My rum punch was fresh pineapple, fresh banana, rum and the secret orange ingredient all blended into a yummy slushy drink. No fruit juices, just the blended fruit.

We are back home. We just woke up on our first day back home. It STILL has not warmed up here. We didn’t bring our coats so we walked out of the airport into 15 degree (F) weather with a bunch of snow on the ground covering what had already been here for two months.

We had a fantastic trip. Karen was as awed about Tikal as I was/am. We’ll be posting those pics on the Picasa page as soon as we feel up to it.

Ouch 15 degrees and no coat you two are brave. Glad your trip was fantastic all around.

Not exactly the same thing tacogirl (different flavour)… and wasn’t talking about the pineapple or fruit squash.. hee hee

I know what the secret ingredient is.. buzzbean mentions it in his picasa album comments. 🙂 Believe that the Seaduced gang also use a similar ingredient but they also use another that has an added kick. People will just have to go on a Seaduced Cat trip to find out or at least taste the Rum Punch.
Great pictures, looks like it was the greatest of special days. Couldn’t be happier for the newlyweds.

Too funny Gail. Not sure if Seaduced uses same thing – thought they use fruit squash (as so many of us do) to make their punch.

The day turned out incredible, thanks to all the help from Carlos, Dulce, Mike, Gary and the Tacos. We could not have asked for anything better for our wedding day except to have our friends and family from the States being there. We’re happy to have such good friends as Laurie and Paul in San Pedro along with all the other characters who love the place as much as us.

It was a perfect day Erin. No wedding bells for us yet – so many people already think we are married that is good enough for me.

Thanks for inviting us Matt we had a fantastic time.

Love Taco Girl Blog @LaurieNorton! I've been reading this blog since I started visiting Ambergris Caye in Belize almost... 10 years ago. It is filled with helpful up-to-date information and recommendations that I wouldn't necessarily find on my own. Laurie Norton's knowledge and extensive network on the island provides her with the ability to share perks/discounts/coupons with her readers, which come in handy year after year. Things on the island change daily - new businesses pop up constantly and LaurieNortonstays on top of these developments. Whenever I plan my return trip to the island, I always check her blog first - and I recommend you do the same. Trip Advisor ain't got nuttin' on Taco Girl!read more

Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s... always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. There is so much information it's amazing! Thank you Laurie!!!read more

I’m so pleased to see tacogirl's blog on Google. Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and... local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. I especially enjoy her guest articles, providing a different perspective of all things San Pedro. Her tipping quide is a classic, and don’t forget her Tropic Air flight code and on-island discounts. Do yourself a favor. Read this BEFORE any trip to San Pedro - Ambergris Caye or Belize in general. Not saying “do... what everyone else says”, but Laurie has frank and honest info which will make your stay in country a little more fun, a little more informative, and often at a great cost savings. Best thing: it’s unbiased, honest, and factual. Personal note: thank you for your personal tailored help in answering mine (and my wife’s) questions.read more
