I am glad to find your blog. I have been to Belize 3 times and San Pedro twice. I am very close to retirement. Ambergis Caye is an awesome place. I am just not sure I want hot weather 365 days a year. I have been all over Central America and still looking for the perfect spot for me. I will read your blog daily now that I have found it. I am glad you made the escape and have found a way to enjoy San Pedro while making a living. I encourage more young folks to do the same. Keep up the great work!

Good to know! I’ll have to check if they have deals from Cali 🙂

Airfare is skyrocketing this summer, by all accounts. With that in mind, these deals are not too bad.

Just for the halibut, I priced a June mid-week trip from MIA/BZE & return. $558.45 is not such a great deal. If that is a 40% savings, then have people been paying $900???? methinks not.

tacogirl 25/05/2010 - 6:16 pm

While I agree that does not sound like a great deal I was told flights recently out of Miami have been around the $800 range (which is crazy but does not surprise me) so in that case $558.45 is not a bad price lol Any airline higher-ups who may stumble upon this Please lower your prices to fly to Belize – high flight prices are hurting us.

Show me the Money! Please publish some fares.

In order to see prices Gwen all you have to do is got to the AA site link in the post and check at dates you want to fly. This info came from someone here who was working with AA to get them to lower prices on flights to Belize – I just posted what they gave me.

Do you have a link to the original story about this? I did a quick google and couldn’t find any info.

There was no original story. It is someone here who was working with AA to get flights cheaper to Belize as to how I found out.

Love Taco Girl Blog @LaurieNorton! I've been reading this blog since I started visiting Ambergris Caye in Belize almost... 10 years ago. It is filled with helpful up-to-date information and recommendations that I wouldn't necessarily find on my own. Laurie Norton's knowledge and extensive network on the island provides her with the ability to share perks/discounts/coupons with her readers, which come in handy year after year. Things on the island change daily - new businesses pop up constantly and LaurieNortonstays on top of these developments. Whenever I plan my return trip to the island, I always check her blog first - and I recommend you do the same. Trip Advisor ain't got nuttin' on Taco Girl!read more

Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s... always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. There is so much information it's amazing! Thank you Laurie!!!read more

I’m so pleased to see tacogirl's blog on Google. Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and... local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. I especially enjoy her guest articles, providing a different perspective of all things San Pedro. Her tipping quide is a classic, and don’t forget her Tropic Air flight code and on-island discounts. Do yourself a favor. Read this BEFORE any trip to San Pedro - Ambergris Caye or Belize in general. Not saying “do... what everyone else says”, but Laurie has frank and honest info which will make your stay in country a little more fun, a little more informative, and often at a great cost savings. Best thing: it’s unbiased, honest, and factual. Personal note: thank you for your personal tailored help in answering mine (and my wife’s) questions.read more
