25 Reasons to Visit Belize in June

by tacogirl 01/06/2018

Visit Belize in June

Aside from hot and sunny (with a side of skeeters right now) there are so many great reasons to visit Belize in June. The primary one being that soon it will be lobster season again and that means 3 great lobster festivals including fantastic foods (there is a restaurant competition in San Pedro) and great parties.

This year I had a slightly strange occurrence happen. A reader named Barb wrote me the following: “We are arriving June 15th for the lobster festival, am I reading the Daily Breeze right? The San Pedro lobster festival has been canceled?” I knew the answer already as I had just shared the event on tacogirl.com Facebook page. I quickly Googled the Daily Breeze and confirmed the San Pedro lobsterfest in question was not the one in San Pedro, Belize and reassured her that all was good and they could still count on that for their summer vacation fun.

25 Reasons to Visit Belize in June

Here is the plentiful list of special event June activity options.

June 2nd – 3rd Hopkins Mango Festival
Warm-up for the weekend will be special guest DJ Amanda on Friday night. Try all the mango specials! There will be a mini-golf tournament on Sunday starting at 3:00 pm. Cash prizes & raffle!! See the “What To Expect” area on the right side of the Hopkins Mangu Festival Facebook page for the full list of events.

June 15th -16th First Annual Banana Festival
San Juan Bosco RC School. This event is to showcase the banana industry. There will be a full day of activities with banana cuisines and drinks, business booth displays, and live entertainment.

June 15th – 23rd The San Pedro Lobsterfest
Nine fun-filled days of “restaurant hopping” and much-anticipated lobster eating. Pick up your passport at Amber Beach Bar at Caribbean Villas starting at 4:00 pm on opening night. Get it stamped at all of the Lobster Crawl locations throughout the week. The list below is by “daytime” and “nighttime”…
June 16 – Pirate’s Not-So-Secret Beach Bar, Estel’s Dine By The Sea
June 17 – The Dive Bar, Pirates Treasure
June 18 – Stella’s Sunset, Crazy Canucks
June 19 – Mesa Cafe, Pineapple’s
June 20 – Belize Chocolate Boutique, Pedro’s Pizza
June 21 – 12 Belize Gift Shop, Rain Restaurant
June 22 – Palapa Bar & Grill, The Truck Stop

… Take your lobster crawl passport to the big block party on June 23rd at Central Park (starts at 5:00 pm). For each stamp you have in your passport you get one ticket for a huge grand prize.

June 16th – Made in Belize Expo
This event is hosted by The Belize Chamber of Commerce & Industry and being held in City of Belmopan at the Agricultural Show Grounds from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
If you have a product that is made locally and would like to showcase it, join the BCCI Made in Belize Expo. Products made throughout the country will available. To register to be a part of the expo call 223-5335 or email mpa@belize.org

June 16th – 23rd – Belize Jazz Festival
Head to Southern Foreshore at Memorial Park Belize City for some great live Jazz music. Start time 12:00 pm.

June 22nd – 24th – Placencia Lobsterfest
Sponsored by the Placencia Village Council and the Placencia Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association. This year’s 20th Annual Lobster Festival offers a diverse and tasty a selection of lobster preparations. Taste Creole, Mayan, Garifuna, Caribbean, European, Asian and North American culinary influences at one of Belize’s top gastronomic parties. Local DJs and musicians will be on hand for your listening enjoyment. There will also be raffles, games and activities for the kids.

June 29th – July 1st Caye Caulker Lobsterfest
Many people love heading to this cute colorful island for Lobster Festival because it’s smaller in size and a really fun “tropical neighborhood” style street party.

Recurring Events

Since there are so many of you that are still finding your way around Ambergris Caye and learning what your options are, my editor Shirlee and I agreed to post a few regulars. The businesses below all have lots of regular weekly events happening and it is worth liking and watching their Facebook pages to help you decide what you want to do while here. A few different places and a bit about what they offer will start being highlighted in the monthly events calendar.

Since I am a game girl and love it when bars offer that kind of fun – these first three all share gaming in common.

Crazy Canucks Beach Bar
Known for its “original” Sunday Funday afternoon jam session, this bar has Tuesday night crab races for prizes and Friday night “Think and Drink” trivia that both support local charities. You can see all the great fun on the Crazy Canucks Facebook page.

Feliz Bar and Grill
Two fun things to do come to mind when thinking of Feliz Bar. Wednesday night darts tournament and the Friday afternoon Cribbage tournament. Show up at 6:30 pm Wednesday (for sign up) and start your “throwing” at 7:00. On Friday, the cards are dealt starting at 4:00 pm.

Truck Stop
This eclectic outdoor foodery is a great gathering place, but not only for food. They have great outdoor games and a pool option all the time plus weekly trivia. They also occasionally host fun games such as Family Feud, the Amazing Race and participate in organizing north side poker runs. Check out the Truck Stop Facebook page to see all the fun you can have there.

Love Taco Girl Blog @LaurieNorton! I've been reading this blog since I started visiting Ambergris Caye in Belize almost... 10 years ago. It is filled with helpful up-to-date information and recommendations that I wouldn't necessarily find on my own. Laurie Norton's knowledge and extensive network on the island provides her with the ability to share perks/discounts/coupons with her readers, which come in handy year after year. Things on the island change daily - new businesses pop up constantly and LaurieNortonstays on top of these developments. Whenever I plan my return trip to the island, I always check her blog first - and I recommend you do the same. Trip Advisor ain't got nuttin' on Taco Girl!read more

Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s... always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. There is so much information it's amazing! Thank you Laurie!!!read more

I’m so pleased to see tacogirl's blog on Google. Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and... local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. I especially enjoy her guest articles, providing a different perspective of all things San Pedro. Her tipping quide is a classic, and don’t forget her Tropic Air flight code and on-island discounts. You’re not up-to-date with what’s going on in San Pedro if you’re not regularly reading tacogirl's blog.read more

Do yourself a favor. Read this BEFORE any trip to San Pedro - Ambergris Caye or Belize in general. Not saying “do... what everyone else says”, but Laurie has frank and honest info which will make your stay in country a little more fun, a little more informative, and often at a great cost savings. Best thing: it’s unbiased, honest, and factual. Personal note: thank you for your personal tailored help in answering mine (and my wife’s) questions.read more
