On the 22nd of January, Charlotte Hanson a musical comedian and ventriloquist will be performing at the Lion’s Den in San Pedro Town to help raise funds for SAGA Humane Society. Charlotte Hanson was an educator in Texas public schools for 23 years and has been a ventriloquist for over 20 years. She began performing full-time in 2004 as a musical ventriloquist, singer, comedian, and motivational speaker and has studied with One Way Street International Puppetry Festival, Mark Thompson (well known USA musical
ventriloquist), and Donald Burton, owner of Somma Music and Recording Studios, Longview, Texas, USA.
Charlotte’s characters range from Beatrice Busily, a feisty older lady, to Melvis Nesley, a take-off of Elvis Presley. With these characters, and a few puppets from the Bunkhouse Bunch, she does a variety show of rock and roll, blues, and country music, as well as Christian shows.
Audiences in the U.S. and Belize have enjoyed her show of side-splitting laughs and toe-tapping music. She has been performing in Belize since 2005. Churches, schools, assisted living homes, civic organizations, rallies, and camps have enjoyed Charlotte’s performances.
Charlotte has a B.A. from the University of Texas and has traveled extensively in the U.S., Mexico, Belize, and Europe. Charlotte works with Children of Hope Foundation (a school sponsorship program) and Compassionate Hearts Alliance in Belize, has made a mission trip to Latvia, and also did ministry with the Christian Motorcyclists Association. She belongs to Women in Christian Media and has released 2 albums, “Old Testament Stories with Songs, Vol. 1” and “Rockin’ Gospel”.
San Pedro rarely gets the opportunity to enjoy great variety performances and this is a wonderful chance for the whole family to get together, enjoy a wonderful show and support their local humane society. Charlotte will also be visiting a number of schools while in San Pedro, giving the children a chance to see her ‘Bunkhouse Bunch’ during her special children’s performances.
Charlotte Hanson’s High 4 Variety Show will start at 7pm at the Lion’s Den on the 22nd of January. Tickets ($10 for adults $5 for children under 12) are available from the 14th of January at the following outlets: Saga Humane Society, Pampered Paws, Coral Beach Realty, Oh! Danny Boy Realty, Pelican Properties and Caye Management.
There will be a cash bar, food, raffles and plenty of fun activities on the evening. Don’t forget that every ticket sold at this event will help to feed abandoned, neglected and cruelly treated cats and dogs in San Pedro.
As I mentioned a few days ago Saga food cook off fundraisers are back in action. I know Ambergris Caye foodies who are delighted at this news. I am sure you will see many of them on facebook and a few Belize Blogs. I was not able to make it but thanks to Shuffles I snagged a few pics to post from Last nights Saga Humane Society cook off fundraiser at Tacklebox Bar and Grill.
What a great opportunity for SAGA!
While on the topic of good causes, I would like to ask
everyone to check out the web site for Holy Cross School.
You will be amazed at the good work they are doing for
the children of San Pedro and in particular San Mateo district. Right now, there is an emergency need for funds for their feeding programme. Please visit the web site and if you are coming to San Pedro, pay a visit and help them out with a cash donation. Every $ helps feed a child.
