So many people are looking for a life change and not quite ready to retire. Many opt for moving to Belize and starting a business. I did because retirement was just not coming fast enough and the dream of living a tropical lifestyle was greater than any work prospects keeping me in Canada. If this line of thinking is something you are considering you will like the following 2 posts on expats who came down and started a business.

Recently I learned longtime business owners who moved to Belize years ago who bought and maintained a successful business (The San Pedro Sun) sold it, started another big hit, are now ready to sell.
The ever loved DandE’s (named for Dan and Eileen) Frozen Custard & Sorbet Shop is now up for sale. It was established in 2005 and has gained a huge following of both locals (like myself) and visitors. Most people who go there have a favorite flavor or in my case several. I alternate between coconut, double rich chocolate, java Joe and chocolate mint for custard. Black cherry and raspberry for sorbet. I get everything with a fudge bulls eye (hollowed out hole filled with hot fudge) and sometimes add chopped nuts. The one I sampled and need to try more is sour-sop because it tastes like candy 😉

It’s located on Pescador Drive (Middle Street) across the street from Coral Cable.

About the Current Owners
What can I say about Dan and Eileen? Knowing them personally for a long time, they are fun spirited friendly and have sharp amusing sarcastic sides. This is one of the main things keeps people coming back day to day, and year after year. Their fabulous frozen custard made with imported Pennsylvania custard is the other. I cannot count the amount of times I have enjoyed both of them and their shop by myself or with friends and sometimes even people I do not know.
One of my favorites was a Facebook allusion that a certain long tongued Kiss musician and his wife (Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed) were going to be at the shop at a certain time. Our harmless prank had a few kids turn up “just in case.”

The winds of change are blowing strong Moose. I just hope who ever buys the shop has as good a version of the custard dream as Dan and Eileen did. They have made thousands of people happy campers over the years.
