Spur of the moment adventure
Carole popped me this morning on the coconut phone to see if I wanted to go to Caye Caulker with her and Bonnie. They were heading over for a quick trip as Carole had to be back for an afternoon client. I thought it was a great getaway and gladly said yes. The boat ride is about 15 minutes and well worth the trip. We enjoyed lunch and a nice stroll around the island, it is amazing how laid back the energy is we all noticed it. I think it has a lot to do with not seeing one regular car while we were there.

i just discovered your blog and i’m hooked. my girlfriend and i are planning our first trip in mid-jan. we spent a considerable amount of time trying to decide between ambergris caye and caye caulker. living in loud and dirty new york city, the quiet and no cars of CC are very appealing, but we have also read that CC has water that smells like sulfur and more sandflies/mosquitoes (i’m allergic). we are just about to book at changes in latitudes on AC. we’re not sure how gay-friendly the area is and thought this gay-owned B&B would be a good choice, plus i read their breakfasts are delish. any advice you can give would be much appreciated – about the differences between the 2 islands, snorkeling, restaurants (are they really a lot more expensive on AC?), ways to make our limited budget go further, anything you think is important for a first time traveling female couple in our early 30s to know.
also, we would like to spend a day or a few 1/2 days volunteering. any suggestions?
