Estel's Dine By The Sea

Repeat Visitors First Meal Choice

There are certain restaurants on Ambergris Caye that many repeat visitors put at the top of their to-do list. It was a given that my Canadian company Heather suggested Estel’s Dine by the Sea for her first breakfast on the island. I could not even begin to count the number of friends who have made that same choice over my 12 years living in Belize. As soon as we got close, my craving switched instantly. Seeing the colossal weekend smoker action made me want Charles Worthington’s world-famous Belizean barbecue and more specifically his “brontosaurus” pork chops. My pic does not do justice to the size of the chop. In reality, I had a whole other plate full of fries as there was no room for them with my main meal. Charles even stopped by our table after to see if I was able to finish my pork chop. My plate was already gone, but the answer was of course and just barely. I had to leave some fries behind so I could fit it all in. 😀
Heather opted for my usual favorite breakfast. Since she got my standard, I pulled a pic of that option from my tacogirl Belize Blog Instagram.

Below are the smokers that started my carnivore craving from the beginning. I snapped the photos to show Heather what Charles’ BBQ looked like so she did not have to get up from our table. Even though she almost got swayed by BBQ, I can totally understand why she still stuck with her original choice. I was a hungry monkey, and once I saw the big hunk of meat my chop was coming from, it only made me want it more.

Of course, I cannot leave out the fact that the view is as much of a factor as the food for why many people make Estle’s at the top of their to-do list. That day was perfect, hot and sunny as we watched the storm clouds gather from afar. After breakfast, we got in a short walk down the mostly Sargasso free (for now) beach, Heather and I made it as far as the Phoenix then we decided to head home. It was about to become a rainy day nap period.

Yes so true John. Even when it is busy they manage to take care of everyone well. We did the princess and the pea thing as we started at the bar, moved to a seat and ended up at the outside table we would have taken from the start had it not been so busy. They never skipped a beat in keeping up with us.
