Last Monday I posted my outrageous prices list which was created from going to various shops around town and taking note of what I thought seemed expensive.
After posting the info – azbob and Brenda from Prescott Arizona and Michelle from Laguna Beach in Southern California both took my list and did a price match. I decided to post all 3 below and have changed my pricing from Belize dollars to U.S. to make it easier to compare.

For those of you who are in Belize reading this Michelle has sent some pictures to make us drool…
To explain the coffee situation. Belize coffee is awful. Coffee from Guatemala, Honduras, etc, is in competition with Belize coffee, so the Govenment ups the duty/customs and makes it less available. There are many items like this, ex. dairy products, good veggies. Everybody cheers when the local celery season is over, rope would be better!
Funny how prices vary from one place to the next even in the same state. I am a huge Trader Joe’s fan – never been to Bristol Farms.
Living in Phoenix, AZ, I’m jealous of the low prices of Prescott Valley. Yes, it is a different town than Prescott. I travel to California often and Phoenix prices are closer to the California prices (a little cheaper). And Bristol Farms ~ YUM! That is the best grocery store ever. I love the restaurant in the Pasadena store, I never was a big fan of clam chowder until I had theirs.
My God it’s expensive there! Move to Mexico. We live in Mazatlan, a resort city, and pay a fraction of what you do down there. Question: why would you want to buy Folgers coffee when the regional coffee is so good?
Larry
Good idea on seafood comparison. Many people to go Belize City to shop for price – variety and fresher vegetables. I would like to compare prices between here and Mexico as well.
Playing Devils Advocate the next time I go to my favorite Vietnamese Seafood store I will get the going price of Lobster and some fish species for you to compare. Sure everything has to be brought via boat to the island but I would be curious to see a price comparison of Belize City vs San Pedro. Is it cost effective to go to the mainland monthly to get major staples like we have here with Costco and Sams?
I would imagine so Gela.
Also, I believe AZBob lives in Prescott Valley, AZ – different town than Prescott 🙂
Laurie, I suspect that there’s a price difference between Northern and Southern California.
