Tarantinofest in San Pedro

San Pedro Belize beach pictures

Flash back to Sunday afternoon – It is a very exciting day at our house Cindy  got a leg of lamb and we are going to barbecue it, we going go see a movie at a real theater for the first time in over 5 years, and I am getting a big cooler full of veggies and coconut water delivered any minute from Healthy Belize. Paul heard me placing my order with Zac and said this phone shopping is a dangerous thing ha ha. I just love the fact that I can get my groceries to come to me instead of me having to go get them.

The Paradise theater across the bridge is having a Tarantino fest and showing a Quentin Tarantino double bill, Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction – both great films. [second link has a very funny video clip of list the swearing lines in pulp fiction – all 3:19 minutes of it]

For all you Tarantino fans here is a bit of Tarantino Trivia – what was Quentin’s middle name?
A. Lawrence B. Jerome or C. Richard

Look below pictures for answer.

Belize food

Big leg of lamb

Organic Produce Belize

Healthy Belize Delivery

Organic Farming Belize

Zac with cooler full of veggies and coconut water

Belize cooking

We are going pro on barbecue

 B. Jerome  is the correct answer for  Quinten’s middle name.

No worries Emily, glad you told me as I use chrome for my secondary browser so may not have figures out there was a problem so quick without you. Fix may take a day or 2.

Hi Laurie, I do see Belize video links and a nice little video window on the right side column of your site, and that looks great. The video I am seeing that is weird is in the upper left-hand corner of your site, when I first bring up your page in Chrome. This video overlays part of your content even when I scroll the page. It’s a YouTube video of a band playing. It goes away after awhile, but if I refresh the page, it comes back up again. We were just experimenting and found that if we clicked on some of your video links, like for Aquafit, we get the band videos even over in the right column, like it is linking to the wrong video on Youtube. Also, once I started playing #4, then clicked on #5 (both of which are not your Belize videos), they both played at the same time. Definitely some kind of techie issue, maybe just with Chrome.

Thanks for the feedback Emily. It is a chrome thing as my guy and I both checked our chrome browsers and can see what you are talking about. That is one reason why I think web work is so challenging, something looks normal so you think and then you check different browsers and find it is out of whack. Working on a fix.

Hi Laurie, I thought it might be a hack because it sits on top of your site and covers up your content when I scroll. Is there a way to move the box containing the video so it doesn’t cover part of your content? Also, I wasn’t sure how it related to your site…just seemed very strange to me!

tacogirl 06/09/2011 - 8:35 pm

Most of the Videos are Belize related and many are ones I have taken myself. I have had a Belize video category for a while now and finally got around to getting some front page. Thanks for letting me know about the tech issue, I will have my guy look into it.

I do Al but unfortunately my foot masseuse ran off with the cook and the maid so I am sol for now.

Hey Laurie, is the YouTube video that has just started popping up in the left-hand corner of your site intentional? Or have you been hacked?

Reply
tacogirl 06/09/2011 - 9:43 am

It is intentional Emily [and long time coming lol] Curious what makes you think it was a hack?

Follow this recipe: •1 leg of lamb 2-2.5kg, trimmed
(must be NZ spring lamb)
Glaze with 1/2 cup olive oil with :•4 garlic cloves, peeled and thinly sliced
•generous handful of rosemary sprigs
•maldon salt and freshly ground black peppers
Then grill (remove the hoof.)
Red Wine Gravy:
•375ml light red wine
•1 tbsp corn flour, mixed with 2 tbsp water
Must be served with scalloped potatoes and broccoli with hollandaise sauce.
Consume with generous amounts of Shiraz wine. Scrap the damn fad coconut water:)

Sounds like a good recipe Al except I would take a pass on the Shriaz, would be as appealing as drinking gasoline with my meal lol. Even when I was a wine drinker was not really for the taste.

Love Taco Girl Blog @LaurieNorton! I've been reading this blog since I started visiting Ambergris Caye in Belize almost... 10 years ago. It is filled with helpful up-to-date information and recommendations that I wouldn't necessarily find on my own. Laurie Norton's knowledge and extensive network on the island provides her with the ability to share perks/discounts/coupons with her readers, which come in handy year after year. Things on the island change daily - new businesses pop up constantly and LaurieNortonstays on top of these developments. Whenever I plan my return trip to the island, I always check her blog first - and I recommend you do the same. Trip Advisor ain't got nuttin' on Taco Girl!read more

I’m so pleased to see tacogirl's blog on Google. Laurie's blog is my official “go to” source for tourist and... local information on San Pedro. Of course, it’s always nice to see her guides on “what to do” in San Pedro, but I also appreciate her “insider” advice and human interest stories on what it’s like living as a local on the island. I especially enjoy her guest articles, providing a different perspective of all things San Pedro. Her tipping quide is a classic, and don’t forget her Tropic Air flight code and on-island discounts. You’re not up-to-date with what’s going on in San Pedro if you’re not regularly reading tacogirl's blog.read more

Do yourself a favor. Read this BEFORE any trip to San Pedro - Ambergris Caye or Belize in general. Not saying “do... what everyone else says”, but Laurie has frank and honest info which will make your stay in country a little more fun, a little more informative, and often at a great cost savings. Best thing: it’s unbiased, honest, and factual. Personal note: thank you for your personal tailored help in answering mine (and my wife’s) questions.read more
