I recently got an email for a great deal in Orange Walk at Lamanai Landings Hotel and Marina for their Fiesta Rama special. As I read about their offer it instantly made me want to go. Unfortunately timing was off as I was going to be at the big Belize Tourism Board awards party.
Lamanai Landings Hotel Fiesta Rama Special
$198.00 BZD includes:
- 2 nights accommodation for two adults
- Daily Belizean Breakfast
- 20% discount on Crocodile Spotlight Safari
- 10% discount on meals at Smoky Mermaid Restaurant & Bar

Booking Policy for the special: Payment in full due at time of booking. Rate is based on double occupancy. Also includes One child under the age of 12 free. Cash and Traveler’s Checks only. Being one who is always willing to give it a shot I decided to write the hotel and ask if they would be willing to extend the special to a different date and explained why. After all the worst they could do was say no, but I was hopeful especially since it is low season. Thankfully I got a yes and a nice surprise that the answer came from Blanca and Enrique who used to live here and are now living and working in Orange Walk. She said yes and that she looks forward to collecting a San Pedro hug from me 🙂 Since there is only one of me and I have no kids I decided to ask a friend. Crocodile Spotlight Safari made it an easy choice because I know Kendall has been wanting to see more crocs (one of his favorite animals). We fly out this morning on the 8:00 am Tropic Air flight to Tower Hill Airport, and Blanca has arranged courtesy pick up. They are located only 5 minutes away. She has also arranged wheels for us to explore Orange Walk town while we are there. The cost of renting a bike is $20.00 BZD per day and all I had to do was let her now in advance so she could ensure they are ready and waiting for us. As I was writing this post I went back to the original email for some information and was reminded of what attracted me in the first place ….. Over the water rooms offer scenic views of the Tower Hill lagoon. In the morning, you can listen as the canopy becomes alive with all the chirping of the colorful birds. In the evening, you can enjoy tranquil sunset views from your private balcony. Smokey Mermaid Restaurant & Bar offers local and international cuisine to delight your taste buds. Along with needing a few pictures for this post, that last bit above got me surfing their website to look for a Smokey Mermaid menu and food pictures. I was not disappointed and decided to messenger Kendall a few pics and link to the menu to see what culinary treats we were in store for. He replied “I’ve looked at the menu and have a real concern, we need more days away to try all that yumminess.” Not a bad way to be anticipating some well deserved and much needed time off 🙂
