Mathieu’s Delicatessen
Mathieu’s Delicatessen is a San Pedro based catering, food delivery and retail business specializing in freshly hand prepared ready meals, breads, pastries, cakes and beverages. We will be offering breakfast goods, including Cinnamon Rolls, breakfast sandwiches, pastries and of course different types of bread. For lunch, we will be cooking home made pastas: lasagnes, fettucine and ravioli – and catering for vegetarian customers too.
We will also be offering sandwiches with a European touch, for example hummous and cucumber, roast beef and horseradish, and cheese and pickle. We are planning a range of pre-packaged meals in portion packs, sold frozen or chilled for easy transition to the microwave, for customers who want dinner at home but who don’t want the hassle of shopping, or the choice of take out. We want to offer San Pedro’s first “Gourmet meals at take out prices”.
In addition to our drop by Deli customers, we also have an extensive menu for resorts, restaurants and resellers, offering the breakfast goods and breads, cakes, desserts and snacks. Mathieu’s Delicatessen chef is also available as a private chef for parties, celebrations and chef stand-in.
The owners of Mathieu’s Delicatessen are Gunter Mathieu and Anna Williams. Gunter brings to San Pedro over 30 years experience working in and managing restaurants and food businesses. He came to Belize in 2007 to set up Driftwood Lodge restaurant on Caye Caulker North and was known for his creative cooking and exciting full moon parties. San Pedranos will know Gunter from his work at “The Baker” on Front Street. Prior to arriving here in Belize, he owned his own restaurant, Mathieu’s for 10 years, settling back in Germany after 20 years traveling the world as a chef on cruise liners and at prestigious restaurants including two Michelin starred establishments. Anna has been a teacher, a marketer for corporate design companies, a trader at a hedge fund, and a dive instructor, which is what she was doing on Caye Caulker when she met Gunter two years ago. Anna takes care of customer service and marketing at Mathieu’s Delicatessen. Karma (their SAGA dog) is Security Management and Waste Disposal Officer.
We aim to know our customers personally, to listen to their needs and cater accordingly, as far as we are able. Mathieu’s Delicatessen opens on 3rd December and will be open Monday to Saturday 6am – 2pm.
