Arrrghh – Island Academy Pirate Party Fundraiser

Island AcademyThe Island Academy Pirate Party Fundraiser was a big success – good turn out and some great costumes. Everyone had a fun time. The kids loved limbo and bouncy tent. Adults were quite happy buying raffle tickets – playing poker – roulette – blackjack – bingo and chalupa [Mexican bingo].

Since it was a fundraiser karaoke had a new twist – the deal was if you got called out to sing and did not want to you had to match the final bid to be able to get out of it. Helda our queen of karaoke did a great job of raising money and getting people to sing. Lady Dixie got the highest bids – stole the show and got everyone grooving when she was called up to do Dancing Queen by Abba. Jace and Caleb were both a hit as well and of course Helda singing rolling on the river with Lady Dixie doing back up dancing was a perfect end to a wonderful night.

Well done on the write up & all the photos, Laurie. It was such a great party that it’s terrific to have such a good record of it. Thanks!

It is very inviting John – one of the main reasons we moved here after just one 3 week vacation. It is not hard to move here you just need to have $2000 usd a month [ I think] coming in to fall under qrp status. Till you get sorted monthly trips to immigration at $50 bzd to get stamped and that goes up to $100 bzd after 6 months if you do not leave the country for a short while.

I’m a 62 year old living in Florida, not very happy with the way things are going in the United States right now. I’ve been looking for a place to relocate and read a little about the retired persons program in Belize.I was wondering just how difficult it would be to move down there. Your blog is great making it seem very inviting. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or insights.
    Sincerely– John Webb
