La Vida Idealist

Today is Sandra’s last day – I am still busy working so sending her off to town on my bike.

I checked this morning and saw my Bio is up on La Vida Idealist yay. The means my first post should be posted Wednesday if all goes according to plan. I took a 3 month writing stint with them – will go longer if I find the time to pack it all in. I am just reading the August Archives now and seeing what kind of experiences my fellow contributors are writing about.

A bit about the project from their website… The La Vida Idealist blog aims to help bridge the all-too-common gap between good intentions and action, as well as showcase some of the interesting and innovative work that’s being done by global citizens in this vibrant region.

Featuring an array of contributors, it is a blog coordinated by the Buenos Aires-based staff of Idealist.org to:
– Share the stories and journeys of those engaged in community work in Central and South America (where ‘community work’ means everything from volunteering to running a nonprofit organization of their own)
– Spotlight free and/or low cost opportunities for potential involvement
– Help good ideas travel throughout Latin America
– Provide tips and resources from experts in the world of global service and involvement.

It is a spin off of idealist which is a project of Action Without Borders, a nonprofit organization founded in 1995 with offices in the United States and Argentina. Idealist is an interactive site where people and organizations can exchange resources and ideas, locate opportunities and supporters, and take steps toward building a world where all people can lead free and dignified lives.

More to come…

Sandra was not too happy when she got home from town – my bike chain kept coming off then broke on her – luckily she ran into Dianne who is handy with bikes and a family ended up getting her to buy them all a hot dog then went off on their way. Nothing we couldn’t fix with an order of chicken wings and some pizza from Pedro’s.
