The Belize Red Cross is a making a special appeal to aid families affected by the recent floods in communities in the Cayo District and the Belize River Valley.
Local rivers, their tributaries, and lagoons spilled their banks during two weeks of continuous rains caused by tropical depressions that affected Belize. Villagers in some areas have endured up to four feet of water in their neighborhoods.
The Belize Red Cross has begun assessing the needs of communities most affected in these areas. Both the National Emergency Management Organization and the Belize Red Cross are jointly collaborating in efforts to alleviate the suffering of those families most affected.
Some 200 families in these areas are in great need so we ask for monetary donations, canned food, and toiletries to help in assisting these communities in need.
The Belize Red Cross urges members of the public to support this appeal and to make contributions at our headquarters #1 Gabourel Lane, Belize City, and at our branches in Corozal, Orange Walk, San Pedro, Belmopan, Dangriga, and Punta Gorda.
The San Pedro Red Cross will be hosting a Cayo appeal Fundraiser on Monday, November 25, on “The Morning Show” on Reef Radio/TV at 7:00AM. We will have Red Cross volunteers in front of Reef Radio/TV on Monday morning on the middle street, starting at 7:00AM to collect your donations. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping our flood-affected communities.
Checks can be made payable to: San Pedro Red Cross, all other items can be dropped off Monday Morning out front of Reef Radio. We thank you in advance for your kindness and support.
[divide style=”2″]I had to go to the dentist this aft so I decided to snap some pictures of the lagoon restoration project in town, it is coming along very nicely. When I got to Julio the big chip it felt like I had was not so big or a problem after all, so he gave me a quick sanding and sent me on my way. Since I was there I stopped to chat with Dr Dan to update him on what the San Pedro Red Cross has been up to and see the new defibrillator that Rick Saager donated.
Time to go pack, I decided to do a last minute getaway this weekend leaving tomorrow and coming back Monday. I just printed off my hotel reservation and it is getting me excited, stay tuned to find out where I end up and who I see.
