Monday morning I got an unexpected phone call from Linda of Brooklyn Brothers Bagel Shop. Much to my surprise she informed me that I had won a prize. When my friend Jack and I went to their grand opening as our big St. George’s Caye Day outing, he had filled out our raffle tickets in my name. Since they were doing the drawing that afternoon, I just assumed that we did not win.
I Facebook messaged right away Jack to tell him that we scored $20 store credit and we made a plan to go use the following day. I started thinking back to their menu and a sandwich was the lead craving. We both had toasted bagels with cream cheese our first visit there. Jack got the jalapeno cheddar and I went with one of my all time favorites – everything bagel.
Brooklyn Brothers Bagel Shop Menu
Their official menu is coming soon and an exciting announcement about the shop. For now I included a few pics below of their signs and a news paper add that show some of their offerings. Also a good reason why you should like Brooklyn Brothers Facebook page to keep informed of their specials and prize draws. Since winning I found out of two other people I know also won prizes – both gift baskets. They came with bagel chips, coffee syrup, biscotti, Caye Coffee, one got a t-shirt and the other a hat.
At the time this post was written, they typically reply within an hour to Facebook messages should you have a question or want to place an order.
I missed getting the San Pedro Sun News Paper this week but caught this ad with a buy one get one free coupon for Thursday September 15th on Facebook – worth tracking down a paper for if you are in town.
Directions and Hours of Operation
Their storefront is located in San Pablo area in the old Sausage Factory building next to Caye Coffee. Walk drive or taxi south of downtown about a mile or so. Not long after you make the left turn past the gas station, look for Marina’s turquoise store on your left. Take a right turn just before the store, follow the road till the end and make a left – you cannot miss it.
Open Monday to Saturday 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
Phone number: 226 – 2222
Here are some visual directions once you hit south of town.
Now Onto the Good Stuff – the Food
As I mentioned above I already knew I was going for a sandwich this time around. More specifically ham and Swiss on a garlic and toasted onion bagel fully loaded with lettuce, tomato, mustard and mayo. Anyone who has been to Ambergris Caye knows, unless you make it yourself, it is a challenge to find a good sandwich on the island. Both Jack and I agreed, this one definitely passed the test – he ordered the same with a different bagel choice. We finished off with a yummy spiced cookie for dessert, it was the icing that got me craving it. Linda told us that it was one of her mom’s recipes.
Overall it was a very satisfying lunch and long lasting – I was still full by the time I finished a few errands and walked back to town.
Thanks Peter 🙂
Congrats Laurie.
