This year (2023) marked the best Central Park Tree Lighting in San Pedro since 2006.
This Annual event is organized by the San Pedro Town Council (SPTC) and this year, it’s filled the talk around town with its unrivaled features and interactive elements.
It’s no surprise to me that this year was the best, since last year’s bright neon theme decorations caused a bit of a stir and people definitely had opinions. While it may not have been my cup of hot chocolate (I like mine with mini marshmallows), I can totally appreciate that someone was trying to think outside the box and be creative.
This year, however, all the decorations were the perfect blend for me – simple style with colorful fun. I would not normally mix the two, however at Holidays you can totally get away with it.
2023 wasn’t just about the tree. Central Park was transformed into a tropical Christmas wonderland with life size lit-up immersive decorations to bring in the holiday spirit.
The decorations were not just beautifully designed, but also inspired people to be a part of the Christmas magic.
And it’s still continuing as you saw in my featured image taken last night. I loved that a guy drove his cart under the arch for a photo op. He was definitely worth taking a picture of before I walked across the park to get my $6 beef burrito at the blue wooden stand.
This next picture is fitting because the current SPTC under leadership of Mayor Wally Nunez has been a gift to the island. The new roadwork alone – huge difference.
Another great new addition this year, a block party – Front Street was closed down and lined with food vendors, and bars. The joyful street party ambiance was enhanced by 6 DJ’s stationed all down the strip.
Wondering what I ate? I opted for a Christmas favorite, a bag of caramel popcorn.
If you like the holiday, Christmas is definitely a time worth visiting Ambergris Caye.
Very beautiful pictures, wish i where there!!
