Today’s pictures are from Wednesday, February 29, 2012 when the Belize Coalition held voting in Central Park  against offshore drilling. It was no surprise that Belize, citizens, residents and lovers voted resounding no thanks to Offshore Oil Drilling in Belize.

Results from the People’s Referendum, organized by Oceana Belize and Belize Coalition to Save our Natural Heritage, indicate that 96% (28,208) voted NO, 4% (799) voted yes for Offshore Drilling out of a total of 29,235 overall voters. Belize Travel Tip –  if you have an early morning departure for what ever reason per-arrange a cab the day before so you do not get stuck anxiously waiting. My favorite island cab driver is Carlos 671 -4446, we have been using him for years. He is super nice and he always tells me a time estimate of how long it will take him to come get me, usually between 7 – 10 minutes. Sometimes we even get lucky and find him at the cab mechanic by our house.

Do you have a favorite island cabby? If so please share, always good to have a plan B.
