Once in a while opportunity knocks and for those lucky people whose door it knocks on, it can be life-changing. Especially when it means expanding your knowledge and horizons within your chosen career in another country. Even better when it comes without having to make a huge decision to save up in order to be able to make it happen.
I was recently contacted by Doris Estrada of Proxima, a comprehensive communications advisory firm to help promote an organization out of Chapel Hill, N.C. They made it a whole lot easier for many educators to develop their skills and share with students. Belizean teachers are now being welcomed into the educational cultural exchange program. If you or someone you know would like to benefit from this life-changing experience, please pass the following application information along.
Participate is a cultural exchange program that recruits high school, primary and preschool, teachers to work in U.S. schools for a period of 3 to 5 years. So far, in Central America over 300 teachers have been taken part. For the first time, teachers in Belize can apply for a stateside teaching position.
Participate allows teachers to fully develop themselves and share their skills with their students. Teachers will have the opportunity to share their own culture and will learn about new educational methods, strategies as they familiarize themselves with a new culture. Currently, teachers are placed in the states of North and South Carolina or Virginia.
- A university degree in education.
- At least two years of full-time experience as a teacher in a school or high school.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Currently working at a school.
Applications are being accepted July 2nd – July 31st. To apply, visit Participate Belize on their website. Applicants should also be willing to work for a period of three to five years in U.S. schools.
And there are some good ones 🙂
The salary for foreign teachers will be the same the same as US teachers and life insurance is included. Airfare is also provided and assistance with obtaining a Visa is part of the program. A spouse and children under 18 years of age may travel with a selected candidate.
