Belize Internet – Part 3

Welcome to my ongoing account of what it has been like to get DSL hooked up on Ambergris Caye Belize. We are now on Day 4 of the process – well technically more but am not counting the 2 trips to BTL office. This is is a good example of why patience is a must here.

Heading to the pool shortly. On Tuesdays class we had two new girls J & K – they were fun and liked class a lot. They said they found out about Madame’s class through their friend Fred who is a tg reader. Shout out to Fred for sending the girls to class.

Anyone have any info to share on satellite pricing in Belize?

More to come

Paul found out why it seems to be taking so long to finish with BTL – the guy that was likely emailed to come do the second half of the install is away. So now that he figured that was a likely possibility – everyone is on the case trying to find out if he was emailed or were we just lost in the shuffle somehow.

CG Esthetic is doing training classes right now so I am going in for a pedicure this aft. I got asked last night but Dick and I were on a shopping mission so we substituted another Laurie instead.

Exciting news… San Pedro Animal Hospital is in the works.

I never did end up getting my pedicure instead I traded up for a girl party at Las Terazza on Saturday. Just trying to juggle with everyone as we have to catch a 9 am boat.  Here are pics from Carole’s training course today today.

Those are good links Bob. Thanks for the info.

Satellite has some good download speeds for the price I am sure.

Satellite internet might pose a little problem due to atmospheric conditions and other factors.

Check out signal latency and rain fade at the beginning of beginning of the article.

From personal experience, my DSL connection has been ROCK solid in all types of weather (heavy rainfall and cloud cover as well) conditions for over 3 years.

Just something to consider as well.

    cheers…

Welcome to “Belize Time” and BTL MONOPOLY.

They are upgrading the network system here and I am having issues with my modem at the moment. However, I know people that work at BTL and they are personally helping me to resolve the problem faster.

Another important lesson you need to learn while living in Belize.

    Its WHO YOU KNOW………………………haha!

Trust me, if you have connections or family members in important places things tend to go faster. Other than that, you are at the mercy of whatever and whoever:(

Anyway, best of luck to you and I hope you get everything resolved quickly.

    cheers…….
