Here is a good project to work on before the New Year while the Holiday Season still has things a bit quiet – cleaning your computer. If you follow the 5 easy steps below you will find your machine running smoother. I have my lap top partitioned so I do everything on C drive and steps 1 – 4 and 5 on d drive.
Step 1 – down load and run AGV free virus and anti-spyware protection.
Step 2 – down load and run CCleaner is the number-one tool for cleaning your Windows PC. It protects your privacy online and makes your computer faster and more secure. Easy to use and a small, fast download. Cleans all areas of your Computer.
Internet Explorer – Temporary files – history – cookies – Autocomplete form history – index.dat.
Firefox – Temporary files – history – cookies – download history – form history.
Google Chrome – Temporary files, history – cookies – download history – form history.
Opera – Temporary files – history – cookies.
Safari – Temporary files – history – cookies – form history.
Windows – Recycle Bin – Recent Documents – Temporary files and Log files.
Registry Cleaner – Advanced features to remove unused and old registry entries.
Step 3 – down load and run Ad-Aware free. By combining anti-spyware technology with traditional anti-virus protection – Ad-Aware now features complete malware protection, that won’t slow you down.
Step 4 – go to go to start menu – accessories then system tools and run Disk Clean up
Step 5 – go to go to start menu – accessories then system tools and run Disk Defragment
p.s. After you have done all this it is an ideal time to back up your computer if you do not have auto back up set.
p.p.s. It is a good idea to idea to occasionally virus scan your flash drives and external hard drive as well. You can do this by plugging in device – opening AGV interface – tools drop down – check box on scan selected folder – choose e removable disk and then click on Start Specific Scan button at the bottom of the page.
I am leaving you with some Barge area pictures that I took on a morning drive with Dick right before Christmas.
