Often people want to pick up a few things when they hit town so that when they get to their resort they can relax and enjoy a drink and a snack. Within a stones throw Tropic Air and Maya Island Air, you can hit a reasonably priced grocery store to pick up all the basics, and find 2 fruit stands that sell fresh cut fruit and limited vegetables.
Nuts and peanut butter are 2 things I recommend on Belize forums when people ask what to bring food wise, both items are costly here.
I ended up with enough video footage that I decided to split it into 3 parts: Flying out of San Pedro Airport, my Belize taxi ride and flying home again.
The first video was shot with a GoPro Hero2, and I was wondering if it was going to work in my movie editing suit as usually movies do not take the long to load, but it all worked out in the end hanks to patience and Google.
This slowdown is leaving me wishing I had got up earlier. My plan was to finish all 3 videos before 9:30am now I am pretty sure that is not going to happen, uploading is just as slow as loading today. I should be answering emails instead I am enjoying an iced coffee, watching music videos trying on my new red dress and packing while waiting.
Packing is 2 piles, one for all the things I need to get done in town later and the second is for my day trip tomorrow. You will have to wait for next week’s #Travel Tuesday post to see where I went.
Video One : Maya Island Air flight taking off from San Pedro Airport with a view of Caribbean Sea, Islands and big fluffy clouds.
Did you know a municipal airport is usually a airport owned by a city or municipality? However there are exceptions to the rule and Belize is one of them, The following places also have a municipal airport: Houston Municipal Airport, Municipal Airport Missouri and Municipal Airport Oklahoma.
A question that often comes up on tripadvisor and Belize message boards regarding flying in Belize : What is the difference between Philip Goldson International Airport in Ladyville and Municipal Airport in Belize City? To get the answer click through on the following guest post – Belize Airports – International versus Municipal and flight fees.
My slowdown is still in effect, 3 hours to save video number 2 info a format I can upload-load on YouTube – ouch. Another one of the many ways Belize teaches me patience 🙂
Video Two: 15 minute Belize City taxi ride, includes the swing bridge and the well-known road to Municipal Airport. I will say there are some really nice buildings in Belize City, however, I was on a mission that day. Between my meeting and shopping for fishing Magazines at Brodies, I did not catch many on film. I will have to go back one day and to a taxi tour with Jeff to capture all the pretty ones like the Museum and some of the nicer buildings on the water.
Video Three: Flying from Municipal Airport to San Pedro with aerial footage of Caye Chapel & Caye Caulker, landing and my airport pick up 🙂
Thanks Charlotte. True we do have a decent amount of airports in Belize, overall it is pretty easy to navigate travel here.
I still have to learn how to go for sound Dr Al that is high tech ha ha. Need to work out how to do it without copywrite laws [know people who have got their videos yanked for music]
The taxi ride video has no sound. It needs music to create mood. Maybe Lasher Zombie or Bob Marley. Rapper Shyne maybe. Just sayin’
For a small country, there are a lot of airports. It would be confusing for many travelers. Great post.
