We were sworn to secrecy until after the Casa Picasso Restaurant menu tasting

Another first for the tacos and probably everyone else that was invited to the special secret event,  we got to taste pretty much the whole menu. That is the kind of thing that happens on the island when your friends that own one of the most popular restaurants in town decide to do some quality control with their new staff before high season opening.

We started with cocktails  and the specialty martini’s included: cucumber & green tea,  limeade, bohemian luxury, breakfast martini, and Maharajah. Other drinks our table tried were basil mojito, AC iced tea and blue lagoon. You can find out more on how they are made by visiting the Casa Picasso drinks menu.

Next came tapas, and the plates kept coming as fast as we could clear them. We sampled: skewered chicken breast roasted button mushrooms. ginger sesame conch,  lobster mac& cheese, savin rock lobster sliders, gambas a la plancha, rendered pork belly with oyster sauce culantro & diced tomatoes, beef carpaccio, snook poke,  potato ricotta gnocchi with organic asparagus, roasted beets, gratin de chou-fleur. Also on the appetizers part of the menu menu we tasted chilled octopus salad and Cesar salad. Everything was delicious which was no surprise with Jackie and Adam in charge and the great staff they have hired.

Just when we thought we could not fit anymore food in our bellies, our tapas plates were replaced with full sized dinner plates and our table let out a contented groan and no one protested. Entree’s included: chocolate & vanilla pork short ribs, bentara style grilled chicken, lobster risotto, vegetable lasagna and vegetable masala with rice noodles – YUM.

More overstuffed groans but no one had to twist our arms when it came time for dessert. We were served: black & white panna cotta, coconut flan, molten chocolate cake and banana wontons. To find out more about all the delicious options, check out Casa Picasso food menu, it will leave you salivating 🙂

Tonight is Casa Picasso opening night starting at 5:30pm, reservations are not required, but highly recommended due to the restaurant’s popularity. You can call and reserve your table at +501 226-4443, mobile 671-2366 or email info[at] Their hours are Monday to Saturday from 5:50pm – 10:00pm and they are located south of town on the lagoon side of the island.

A bit more about Casa Picasso Restaurant Owners Jackie and Adam. They always knew that they would make Ambergris Caye Their home after their children had grown and they had both been preparing for that eventuality for many years. With strong backgrounds in food and beverage and marketing, owning a restaurant seemed to be the right outlet to showcase their talents. Finding the right venue seemed like it could be the obstacle, but as soon as Jackie and Adam found out that Casa Picasso was available, they jumped at the chance to bring back a San Pedro town favorite adding their own personal twist.

I was not planning to take any pictures, sometimes I just want to enjoy my time out without mixing in work. Once I saw the  display of all the food on the bar I could not resist snapping a couple, Adam saw me and said he took the same shot for the same reason. To see more pictures of the restaurant and the food visit Casa Picasso Photo Galley and San Pedro Scoop blog.
