Shocking
tacoboy stopped at Super Buy South the other night while he was waiting for our breaded chicken fingers and fries from Sunny’s. When he got home I started to help him unpack the groceries and saw a couple of shocking things in the bag along with the chocolate bars, chips and can of chili mac he decided to add to our hurricane foods.
It was not so much that the items themselves were shocking. more so the prices written on them. Charmin toilet paper $11.75 bzd for 4 rolls and Jiff Extra Crunchy Peanut butter $18.90 bzd for a 1lb jar.
Pricing in Belize is a popular topic among both vacationers and people doing there due diligence before moving here. That is cool Emily, now if only we had a blender 🙂 I wonder if I chopped the nuts a bit with a knife if I could use my hand blender.
Laurie, we pay $8 BZD per lb. for naked peanuts, and I believe one lb fills a jar the size we used to pay $17.25 BZD for of the natural peanut butter — maybe 16 oz? Probably not as big as your jar above, but all natural – no sugar, etc.

I will trade you a suitcase full of Charmin toilet paper, Velvetta Cheese and Jiffy Peanut butter (creamy and nuts) for lodging. I may throw in some magic markers just for good measure too!
Anytime Emily. How do you compare pricing for naked nuts to make pb price wise? I bet it tastes really good.
Thanks for the shout-out, Laurie! Barry has been making our own peanut butter in the blender using the “naked nuts” from Sol Farms. Peanut butter prices in San Pedro are crazy. We were buying the natural Belize peanut butter at Greenhouse, but it just got too expensive.

Country Barn is not on the list. I would give it to the local squirrels etc who have a hard time after hurricanes.

We normally by Elite or Softy, this was a rare treat.
Well you could get Belize toilet paper (Elite or the one with the Roses) but it doesn’t compare with Charmin especially if you are like Captain Kirk and concerned with Klingons. Plus everything costs more on the Island.Paradise is not cheap.
