During day 2 of the San Pedro Belize Red Cross first aid training I took the opportunity to walk around the grounds of El Secreto and take some pictures so you can see what it looks like. If you are looking for Belize resorts for a vacation, you should keep El Secreto in mind. The resort, located on Ambergris Caye, is one of the most luxurious resorts in Belize. It is located 11 miles north and is a beautiful property with 13 individual thatched roof villas, each one decorated with Belizean flavor, luxurious finishes, outdoor private Jacuzzi and private patio shower. To see inside the rooms check out the blog post Belize Luxury Resort El Secreto shhhhh…it’s a secret by Romantic Travel Belize. It is easy to see why the resort made the Conde Nast Traveler’s Hot List for 2013. For more reviews see El Secreto on Trip Advisor.
Day 2 of training went well, the staff for the second half of the training was eager to do their hands on practical sessions. Over breakfast, I was getting to know Jermaine more and asked about how he got involved with Red Cross and first aid. I learned that he has been active doing first aid for just over 7 years, and has actually performed CPR 7 times in his life – he is only 21. The last time Jermaine had to perform CPR, he saved his neighbors baby’s life.
It was snapper and I did not feel too guilty with the fish looking back at me, I do prefer fillets though the bones ate too tricky in whole fish. Belize Red Cross offers defib courses, last Nov when Bandage International was on the island, they trained 15 people on how to use them. El Secreto has one now as well.
My big issue here is the fish. I believe we have covered this ground before Laurie, but I am sure you don’t want the flounder to be looking back at you while u eat it. Induces guilt. Also u get training with portable defibrillators I hope. I mean if some overweight middle aged male collapses with a clot in his left anterior descending coronary artery thumping and pumping won’t do the trick. Just sayin..
