Island Yard Sale

Our Saturday morning adventure was to go to a yard sale in the lot beside Changes in Latitudes. Island yard sales are fun for a few reasons – you never know what kind of treasures you will find and here you are always guaranteed to run into someone. I scored 2 books – How to Cook a Tapir by Joan Fry and a bar book for Cindy. We ran into Robbie and Bob a tacogirl reader who I have emailed back and forth with – he was was on his way back to Texas today after a lovely stay at Victoria house. We stopped at Maria’s on the way home for fruit and veggies. Unfortunately she did not have any Jicama – maybe Tuesday she said. Jicama (HEE-kah-ma) is an edible root that resembles a turnip and can be eaten cooked or raw. Since living here I have gotten into eating it sliced – never tried cooking it yet. I found some interesting Jicama nutrition Facts – it is high in fiber- Vitamin C and hydrating water.

Was great meeting you too Bob. I thought we had escaped Daylight savings for good but since everyone else still goes through it we still have to switch in our heads to remember what time it is elsewhere.

It was certainly a treat to meet you guys yesterday at the yard sale. It was the first time I got to meet some real media celebrities! lol !
Travel yesterday was suprisingly as crowded as I have ever seen both in BC and Houston. We are now back home and trying to catch up on some rest which is compounded by the fact daylight savings time started last night. I never seem to get back that lost hour!
