Yesterday was Garifuna Settlement Day, celebrating the arrival of the Garifuna people landing in Belize from West Africa around two hundred years ago. While all districts of Belize honor this important day, the main celebrations happen in Dangriga.
Although it was a holiday I still did some morning work, as I woke up to 75 emails and more video editing work. Still feeling shell-shocked from the large four day Ambergris Caye Clean Up Campaign . Please click through and watch video footage if you have not seen it. Directors cut and disturbing bonus footage at the end of the article. I will be adding a supply list to my site shortly for those who want to help. We have a long road ahead of us to get all the garbage gone.
I decided the best thing to do instead of crawling back into bed depressed over trash and sleeping the day away, was to go outside. It turned out to be the best decision ever, as I was walking to my friend Madison’s place on the beach, I got paraded on front street. It lifted spirits, and I took a short video and a few pictures to share with you.
