Blog post on Blogging

At the Saga party on Sunday, Phil asked how many hours a day I spent blogging. My first response was a couple but later on I got to thinking about it and realized that was to general an answer and that it is really hard to break it down to a number.

Blogging for me is a lot more than just writing something up and throwing in a few pictures to go along with it – lot of thought goes into it. Often I plan out a post schedule which includes what to post when but also time of day it gets posted. Depending on what topic I am postting about I may land myself an occasional day off.

I put a lot of research work into blogging and am continuously checking sites like Upstart Blogger, ProBlogger and Daily Blog Tips for relevant information. Not to mention all the additional sites like Stumbled Upon, Digg, Twitter and Squidoo that I work to keep up with to help on the promotion end of things. Tonight I just got invited to join “The Small Business Social Network,” as featured in The Wall Street Journal. Will check it out in the morning and decide.

While I am not physically at my computer all the time I also spend a lot of time blogging in my head and on paper. I have a word doc on my computer for ideas and a notebook I carry around to write things down when I do not have pc access. Those of you who know me well have often seen me whip out my notebook and jot things down

There is also a lot of maintenance work that come along with blogging such as editing my labels section which will be a several hour job as once I have decided on the new category selection, I have to go through all over 500 posts and re-label them all.

Blogging is often one of the last things on my mind when I go to sleep at night and one of the first things I think of when I wake up in the morning.

Halloween party Friday is going to be an event not to be missed.
