Travel timing to depart Belize International Airport

When departing Belize, Tropic Air advises you to be at the airport 3 h in advance.
The reasoning behind the 3h rule and why Tropic advises you follow it for your return flight to Philip Goldson International Airport:
1. Airlines flying back to the states are technically supposed to close their manifest 1h ahead of time so that everyone can be checked against the no-fly list.
2. Generally 2h is more than enough, however, there are those random 30 days out of 365 that it will not be, such as a busy Saturday in March. There are popular annual travel times when Tropic is always extra busy at whichever airport you are flying out of. This can generate minor delays to BZE and increased the potential for long lineups at Philip Goldson International Airport. check-in.
I have seen a few comments on TripAdvisor Belize forum that verified the above to be worth following especially at peak travel times.
