Wishing everyone a safe and happy Labor Day.
Labor day is a public and bank holiday which takes place annually on May 1st. It is about celebrating the achievements of workers and honoring them for their hard work.
What does this mean for people on Ambergris Caye today? Most shops, bars and restaurants are open. Banks, government offices, post office closed and some businesses that choose to close. Thankfully we got our mothers day cards in the mail yesterday.
[divide style=”2″]Dick is back in town from Turkey for two weeks, He Erika and I decided that it would be nice to take a Monday morning beach walk to town, enjoy breakfast on the beach and get our errands done before today’s Holiday.
We started out at the post office so Dick could get his card mailed – I had sent ours earlier with Paul. Then we decided breakfast was in order and headed to L’esquinta so I could get some meat patties and see if they had fish tacos for Erika – unfortunately they didn’t. Next we headed over to Celi’s Deli to see if they had any, same no fish tacos so she ended up with powder buns and banana bread, Dick got a chicken burrito and I got a couple of meat pies. We headed to the beach to eat, relax and enjoy the view – could not think of a better way to enjoy Monday morning breakfast.
Anyone know where to get good fish tacos in town?
🙂 I bet you do Carbunkle Trumpet
I know that menu by heart.
You crack me up Dr Al.
Meat is one of the most important parts of a taco. It is what gives the taco most of its flavor. Normal types of meat that first appeared in tacos were of course rodents, Capybaras, armadillos, parrots, or various types of monkeys. Some southern Mayan cultures even used banana slugs. Out of those varieties, only rodent meat appears to still be used regularly in Central America. Today however, most meats are usually derived from the cow as some sort of beef or beef-like paste and occasionally chicken. Fish is sacrilege and should only be found in a burrito and then only in an emergency.
Thanks Emily, we also though Waraguma might but did not check their menu.
Not quite tacos, but Rico’s makes a delish fish burrito for lunch. Caliente’s has fish tacos for lunch and on Friday night taco night. Best I’ve had so far were at Tranquility Bay, but that’s a bit of a haul. I LOVE fish tacos!
