April Events and Weather

This months calendar is completely full, leaving no reason to say you’ve got nothing to do and great weather to do it in 😀 During April the temperatures on Ambergris Caye typically vary between a daily high of about 29°C / 85°F and a daily low of approximately 24°C / 76°F. Average for April is around 26.5°C / 79.7°F. The winds typically aren’t as strong as March, but still significant. April is still “dry season” but if it does rain is most likely to occur around 6:00 am.

April Events in Belize 2018

Easter in Belize is a very popular celebration time and there is no shortage of fun things to do. My reason to Celebrate is a bit more earthy, so far over the holidays, my water has only gone out 3 times for short periods and power once. 

April 1, 2018, Easter Sunday Church Services
Sagebrush Church – 8:30 am & 10:30 am
Living Word Church – 10:45 am & 7:30 pm
RC Church – 8:00 am & 10:00 am

Easter Brunch April 1st
Mahogany Bay 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Join them for an extraordinary Easter Sunday brunch experience.

Panerrix Steel Band April 1st
Easter Special at The Dive Bar 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Breakfast/Brunch and Lunch Specials. There will be a kids egg hunt & bouncy houses. Also included in the day of fun, complimentary use of paddleboards & kayaks.

Easter Pool Party April 1 & 2
Billy Bones Pool Bar / San Pedro Fitness Club
Egg hunt, food, prizes – Fun for the whole family. Tickets: Adults $15.00; Kids $5.00

Other April Events

April 4 SPW/Walkettes Pokerholics Golf Cart Poker Run
Wayo’s Bar 11:00 am. following bars, Coco Locos, Dive Bar, Marbucks, TruckStop, and the Flop at CROCS. They will go to Canucks after, for Live Band. Poker runs are always fun, and you don’t have to know how to play poker. All the cards are tracked – you just have to show up at each bar to hear them call out what cards you get.

April 4 Soft Opening PUR Boutique Cabanas
2:00 – 10:00 pm
New staff will be on hand to practice their customer service skills – they will be working out any kinks on this crowd so your patience will be appreciated. Test out the pool and have free sunset rum punch, popcorn, and treats for your dogs (welcome at the bar). They will feature and half-off the taco bar items – $8.00 BZD for burritos, tacos, salads, nachos, and rice bowls. They will also be giving away two nights free stay at PUR! This is an adults-only event.

April 4 Comedy Show Starring Brad Reeder
Iguana Juan’s Restaurant & Bar – 8:00 pm
A night of laughter and fun with a professional stand up comedy show. Brad has been seen on several TV shows and he has opened for Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld. Joining Brad will be Gains Kelly from the World Series of Comedy, and Rob Burrows from Crazy Canucks.

April 14 Carnival Fundraiser
Croc’s Sunset Sports Bar 12:00 – 5:00 pm
This carnival comes complete with carnival-style foods, ring toss (among other games) and you can even try your luck at the dunk tank. Several Island folks have graciously volunteered to get “dunked”. As long as the participants have good aim, there will be splashes. All proceeds will directly benefit Raise Me Up and the American Crocodile Education Sanctuary (ACES).

April 17 – 20 Jimmy Parrish from Jacksonville Florida
Dive Bar April 17 & 19; Palapa Bar & Grill April 18 & 20. All starting at 6:00 pm
Come on out and give Jimmy a big San Pedro welcome to his “first time in paradise!”
You will hear high-energy island style cover performances by artists like Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown, Bob Marley, and Jimmy Buffett, He also has originals that he will mix in throughout his shows!

April 20 Taste of Belize
Grand Baymen’s Blue Casita (north of Exotic Caye Resort) 4:00 pm
Local culinary craftsmanship served on a plate. Culinary artists confirmed to date:
Hidden Treasure, El Divino, Black & White Restaurant, El Fogon, and Island Buzz Cafe.

April 21 Rise & Shine 5k Run
Hope Haven – 5:30 am; Check-in at 5:00 am
Pre-registration: $15.00 BZD; Day of event registration: $20.00 BZD
Proceeds go to the SHINE empowerment programs for youth and young women.

April 27 – 29 National Agriculture and Trade Show 

“Let’s Get Growing” Belmopan. Goods, products, and service are showcased at this weekend-long show. Livestock show and trade also takes place the week prior to and during this event.

Educational

April 16 – 20 Certified Front Desk Representative
Radisson Fort George Hotel & Marina, Belize – 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
This training and professional certification can give the skills and confidence needed to be successful. Candidates who complete the program and pass the certification exam will receive a certificate, global recognition for their accomplishment and a lapel pin. Cost is $400.00 per person. Fee includes 5 days of training, exam fee, course textbook, certification fee and lunch.

April 23 – 28 The 2018 Belize Writers’ Conference
Ak’bol Yoga Retreat and Eco Resort 3:00 pm each day.
Organized by the Joey Garcia, the conference will include presentations by local experts on the history of Belize and the Maya, and panels on building a successful career as an author.
