Athens Gate on Ambergris Caye

As we continue our crawl of Belize resorts, our next stop is Athens Gate. This resort is on Ambergris Caye which is a few minutes north of Pelican Reef and still in the 3 miles south range. It’s just as nice as Pelican Reef but in a different way – whoever decorated this one likes stripes and interesting prints. I like how both places have lots of local art – Curvin – Papo – Chuy – Edwin and so many more.

Been taking or sorting pics all day apart from our time at Mr. Joe’s for lunch (update August 2015 – now Lone Star Grill & Cantina). I am officially on break now so I can enjoy our suite.

Lunch was good we had pizza and met Orlando who lives south, and some other nice people who were falling in love with San Pedro and wanted to know how we liked living here.

Caught a great Sunrise this morning then came back to bed to work. Carole just popped me on the coconut phone and said that Dick was delayed in St Croix due to Earl. The winds are picking up there and he was heading to a safe place. Paul is in the living room checking it out and relaying what to say to Carole. He said it looks like it is not right on top of St Croix but to the east a bit.

Finishing uploading the last of this morning’s pictures and getting ready to put on Coast to Coast. It airs live at 8:00 am from Guam on KGUM – K57. Neither of us wants to leave we are so comfortable here at Athens Gate. I could just sit here and stare at the sea all day.

    Hi TacoGirl,

I noticed your link to Athens Gate at Lighthouse Beach is broken in this article. Here’s their new URL: lighthousebeachvillas.com. I represent the hotel (I manage their site and search engine profiles) and we’d really appreciate an update on this link.

    Thank you,

    Caleb

Drew consider renting a cart for a day and drive south then you can head north and do lazy crock along the way – that is a nice way to see more of the island.

Duh. I had previously been looking at the 27th post of the Field Trip up North. Guess if I had read more closely I would have realized you were actually south of town at Athens Gate. I’m still going to try to explore the north end of the island some as well as the south end. I like going into town but there is just so much to see and do and we only have one week.

Athens Gate is actually in the south Drew [about 3 miles] that was a joke about heading north from Pelican Reef and slowly making our way towards home. Af got going north it really does depend on how the roads are. I have been past Capt Morgans as far as Belize Legacy I think [would have to double check] but that was in good weather driving.

How far north is Athens Gate? Laura and I are interested in exploring the north end of the island when we arrive October 30th, but I didn’t know you could take a golf cart much father north than Captain Morgan’s. Has that changed or does it depend on the rain?
